Darc, I believe you're referring to me when you say you've only met 1 other person. (I'm Odyessus, I have you on my Kin list.)

If you want, you can join our settlement, we do live close by after all C:

Message me if you're interested, We'd love to have you.

Details matter. Or:
One of your characters got killed for trying to destroy something that did not belong to him.
That it was a hearth-fire for a Alt-character you created is ... well. kinda meaningless from the game point of view.

Still. Its good to know that "destroying hearthfires leaves vandalism scents."

The beauty of the system is, if he killed you, even from a summon, there's now a murder scent. If you know where you are you could always get somebody out to track and kill them for you.

I just rolled a new char and teleported to my camp. I'm trying to regain the farming and exploration skills I have lost but I wouldn't mind getting his ass tracked down and killed. Doubt it will happen though, the scent only stays for 9 days right? I don't think I'll be able to get a char capable of killing my assailant in that time.

Yes but what I said was still true and it still doesn't justify someone picking up a random scent and just deciding to kill that person, as someone else said above if it's got nothing to do with you then leave it alone.

But yes at least it was a learning experience :)

You should count yourself lucky that person didn't destroy/grief your settlement. If you're new you probably lost what, a few thousand LP? That person probably could have destroyed everything you own too. Not everyone is as lucky as you.

Yes I'm glad my settlement wasn't destroyed but that does not really make me feel better for being killed by someone feigning justice.

I really don't get where you see feigning justice.
It seems like he/she is rubbing it in your face that they killed you and could have destroyed all your stuff and that you should be more careful not to leave your scents lying around.

"feigning justice" because he didn't do any real crime

Yeah exactly. Atherman read again what actually happened. I'm sure that if the same happened to you you'd be slightly miffed. Christ, it's not like I just went around lolmurdering and was surprised that I got tracked down

Anyway, now I know that even attempting to destroy your own alt's hearthfire leaves a scent and I won't do it again in the future so I ain't complaining too much, at least I learned something.
