Is there any law enforcement provided by the municipality in Constantinople?

Pretty much yeah, I'd think towns don't want to loose their trade stuff safe so villages most likely have warriors, and maybe we can go all after them and spill mass blood. ;)

and I guess you can always talk to us or other villages to help you to reclaim stolen goods. :)

Are you a member or founder of Constantinople? I would assume this to be the case also, but as Brodgar never had any law enforcement for RoB despite claiming it so they could be a trading hub, I'd like to hear an official statement from the sponsors.

Lightning is with Sodom and yes, we mostly hope for all the participating towns to take care of law enforcement by themselves and help each other out. In case that isn't enough we also have our own soldiers who can provide help if it is really needed. Plus I am counting a little bit on Bottleneck to support us here ;)

as burgingham already pointed out, we will have an eye on town security. and by opening the city to villages mainly, we think it would also be in the interest of each village itself to have their stuff secured. therefor we give away claims, where you can wall yourself in and i.e. get your stuff out on your vending stands at given opening hours only. also, with having analt in the city, you can party yourself and your trading partner. so the "oops, dropped my highest ql battleaxe on the ground - wait, i got theft anyway, i pick it up - whoaah, i got summon killed" - incidents at bay.

I'm more concerned with the buyers than the wholesale suppliers. Towns are likely to have their own warriors, but what if you are a fairly new player dropping in to Constantinople in hopes of picking up four nuggets of any metal you can get to build a chest out of and somebody wearing bronze plate named ??? decides to see if he can one hit you for lulz? It sounds like your answer is that it's tfb unless the player comes from a town with its own ranger force.

There are always risks. Naturally nobody can promise you 100% safety. Such a player would probably be eventually summoned and killed, but that is reactive solution. Not likely that we're going to be standing in guard 24/7.

Of course, if Constantinople is within the reach of several cities with strong warriors, so dropping a line at IRC might result in your assailant being pummeled to death...

If you of the paranoid type, simply use an alt to trade.

Okay, so Lightening says "yeah, I guess we would, but villages have to protect their own," and Haba says, "make an alt and don't get hung up on the risk" Did I get that more or less correct?

Sum up: Constantinople does not at this time make a commitment to provide either protection or retaliation for crimes committed towards visitors.

This is not unreasonable. I'm guessing Constantinople is interested in large scale bulk/high value trade with other villages. It takes a lot of time to grind up even one decent ranger. There's no incentive to risk high level characters in order to provide security for low level characters doing small trade, especially low level characters from out of village. If some pk killed a 100k lp character from Constantinople, they would probably absorb the loss and create a new character rather than risk losing a 1 million lp ranger character trying to detect the crime and kill the perp.

Big up for this initiative. We will be in contact via PM in due course to set up an Embassy... or 3.

On behalf of Ironwell faction.

While I cannot speak for the people of Sodom, I will say that I would go after anybody who attacked any of my fellow villagers because allowing someone to get away with that sort of crime only encourages more of it.
