Actually it was me that requested that it was a clean operation not Sodom so it was my fault, not them. In anycase, you only gained a handful of trinkets and some LP but at the cost of a much more dangerous environment.

And for clarification, your LP isn't liquidated when you die, simply all of your stats and LP are reduced so you can't die to "respec"
