Greetings my fellow Hearthlings, I am Codename B. You may remember I was the Vice President (of Croatia) a few months back. I am here tonight to share a vexation truth that there is a growing problem in haven today, a problem that has gone unaddressed for too long. The problem of which I speak of course, is global heathing.
Now, I know many of you don't believe in global heathing, but I assure you it is a fact. I come here today to prove this fact to you. Now, we all know that when an area is deforested, the forest tiles slowly turn into grassland. Because of large cities only planting new trees inside of their walls, and newbie players spawning in the wilderness and cutting down trees with wild abandon, many of the central supergrids are now heavily covered in areas of grassland. There are places where no grass could be seen before that how have grassland that takes up more than a minimap. Now, many of you out there today are thinking to yourselves "Good. Grassland looks better, and I can run though it with minimum stamina loss. Let's cut down all the trees!" This kind of thinking is faulty, for two reasons.
Anyone who has tried growing high quality trees knows of the problems with growing trees on grassland. Growing trees on grassland takes significantly longer. That means longer times between generations of trees. Tree quality takes longer to go up, coal and high quality wood production plummet. Trees have a greater chance of having their growth stunted. This is not the worst problem however.
Grasslands don't stay grasslands. Please refer to the circle labeled "1" on the attached image. This image is of the area surrounding Seventh Haven and Silent Hill, southeast of New Brodgar. The Some of you have observed this effect right near your own homes as well, and won't need to look. Grasslands that are next to heaths and moors are slowly taken over. Both the moors and heaths act like a cancer, spreading over the grassland, the only things capable of stopping them are trees and walls of pavement. Even then, if there is one tiny hole in the pavement the heaths and moors can spread.
The problem with moors and heath is that they are a completely different climate than the native life is used to. Native plants that we use for string are choked out by the yellow and pink menace. Native animals such as deer and bears, which many of us rely on for quality sausages cannot find food themselves and starve, and so they can't be found in these deforested areas. They are instead replaced by q10 mouflon and aurochs with no natural predators. Good for noobs perhaps, but bad for the rest of us. We can't make quality saws with the bones of mouflon. We can't make quality leather with the skins of aurochs. Not to mention the effect that these places have on tree growth. And of course it goes without saying, heaths and moors look ugly.
You may be thinking to yourself that we can stop the spread by simply leaving trees in between moors or heaths and grass, or perhaps paving breaks, but look at the image again, this time at the circles labeled "2." Some of you may not know this fact, but grassland can spontaneously generate moor. That means no matter what you do to keep grass apart, it will still be taken over. But here's the kicker, moor generation isn't random. Look at the image for proof, every moor that has spawned has done so right next to paved land. We can only draw one conclusion from this.
Climate change is caused by hearthlings.
That's right, in the rush for industry, we are speeding up the change of our world. Now, there might still be some of you not worried. Perhaps you think that moors look fine, you don't mind the world being replaced by moors. Well, I now urge you to look at the second attached image. This is near the Russian city of Xymop. Look closely at the circled spot. That's right, a heath has spawned inside the moor and is taking it over. It's not just that moors and heaths are replacing all the forest tiles in the game, but heath is replacing forest, grassland, and moor. Global heathing is real.
We must act now hearthlings. The over cutting of our forests, the terraforming of land, the building of cities that get abandoned, all of these are changing our world. We must reduce our footprint in the world and stop these changes before it is too late. This is a vexatious truth to accept, but for the good of all of us, we must accept it and change our ways. Stop cutting trees just for LP. Plant your own forest instead of chopping more. Use your claims to stop decay so you waste fewer trees to repair them. These are all things you can do, easy things, and any of them will help save our planet.
We only have one world 3, and we must share it. Let's not leave a world covered in ugly pink heaths to the next generation of players. Thank you.
