Oh man, I dumped so many hours into that game and loved it. One of my all time faves. As for helping you out, I'm kinda on the opposite end of the world... I doubt I have enough agi to jump a bunch of supergrids. I assume that's what you mean by fast traveling if I'm in a village, right?

the only way you can travel here is by destroying your own hearthfire and then tp'ing here from the start menu. but then your current house will be extremely far away.

I can probably just do the taming once I get my unarmed skill a little higher and get some leather pants.
