Maple tree

Postby Lusewing » Mon Sep 13, 2010 4:48 pm

I am looking to buy a q80+ Maple seedling. I live in far to smaller place to get into the huge challenge of raising high q trees so I feel i am better to just buy a seedling to plant in my plot. I don't have a clue how much someone wants to charge. I can offer most foragbles (No luck in finding cavebulbs yet but i am getting there). I can also offer Linen and bricks.

Now the only problem is that I cannot be sure what the seedling's q is before I plant it so I would prefer to trade with one of the larger villages who at least have some pride to lose is they screw me over - there is little else I can do.
If the trade could take place in Nople for easy access.

Make the person that sells you the seed also plant the tree so there's no q loss ;)

I'm pretty sure it shows you the ql of the fertilized seed in the pot before the actual tree planting? Or am I imagining things? :<

I'm quite sure, too. Maybe it only shows it while you have it picked up via leftclick?

That is correct, when you hold the seedling in your hand you can see the ql of the seedling, but once its planted in the pot,
you will only see the ql of the pot and what kind of seed was planted if you hold it in your hand , not the ql of the upcomming tree
since it has not grown yet.

and since the ql has some randomness to it a few ql points up or down, why should you be able to see it really, its part of the
surprise when growing things to see what it becomes. in the same way you can never tell exaktley what ql you will get when
you harvest weat for example until it is actually harvested. And that is even if you know the ql of the seed that you planted there.

so yes it is a bit of a hassle to trade planted trees, since you quite frankley must trust the one who sold it.

and if you do not have appropiate ql on your herbtable-treepot-soil-water-farming skill to match the seed ql that you buy,
you will drag the ql down on the end produkt from the original seed a lot if you just buy the seed and plant it in a pot yourself.
but well if you dont mind that your higher ql seed will drop by a lot , since it might still get a little higher then your current trees.
and some people might be happy with that little extra boost even if it might not be a lot. whatever floats peoples boats right.

ohh depending on what you plan to use the trees for by the way, some trees grow faster like fir and birchbark trees hence
they are faster to level up. Maple, Oak, fruit trees and such grow a lot slower, takes a lot loonger for them to become a full grown tree.
hence it will take loonger to get a new seed to plant.

To Thijssnl: The person planting the seed into the treepot matters. However the person planting the treesprouts into the ground does not matter.

Would i not just be able to buy the newly sprouted maple tree before it is planted into the ground?

yes some people do it that way, but that depends on if the seller can trust you and be sure he gets hes high ql treeplanting pot back from you.
Or if the treepot is included in the same trade (thing is, the treepot might even be worth more then the content of the pot).
Some people let the seller come and plant it where ever you want it planted
(only reccomended with people you trust tho, naturally).

i guess you just need to discuss it with the seller really there is no set ways of doing it.

The pot would certanly be going back to the seller - I am far to weak to make any enemys  But yes there would need to be a lot of trust going both ways and as I want to continue trading in Nople I hope to prove myself as being trustworthy.
