Whats with the trade restrictions?

So, i've been in contact with various sources, and i keep running into dead ends and its starting to get on my nerves. 90% of the crap i need, i flat CANT trade for. Just cant. Not that its not available, its just not up for trade. So i'm stuck doing what? Trading crap i have for crap i already have????? Isnt the whole POINT of trade organizations to facilitate trade of items that people are unable to make themselves? I mean seriously. I'm starting to wonder what the point of this game is if all i can do is trade a few dozen of one item, for a better version of something I CAN MAKE MY OWN DAMNED SELF....... I'd like to be able to trade for things that *GASP* I -CANNOT- make myself. Things that i am unable to craft due to a lack of resources. Instead, i'm stuck without the resources. What's the deal with the restriction of trade?

I feel like i have to already have the item before i'm allowed to trade to get one? The heck guys???

It is crippling hard. Mind numbingly infuriatingly hard, when the people who have the items you want, tell you that they flat out wont trade for those items. "But heres a list of crap you already have that you can trade for."

The only way i could "work hard" to get what i want and succeed would be to become a raider and buff my stats upp enough to punch down walls and take the materials i want from the mines that i dont have...... So, no, working hard isnt the solution.

Look at sodoms trading thread, they buy linen. Go make linen.

What exactly do you want to trade for that people don't sell? The only thing we (Sodom) have restrictions on are forge rings and thanes.

I've been trying to get my hands on some decent arms and armor so that i can properly kit myself as our village warrior. But those nearby us whom have access to iron refuse to trade it... I mean, i have ok bronze gear, but against an agressive raider, bronze isnt going to do much in the way of tipping the odds when they have a b12 axe and steel plate....
