Pickaxe

Postby gt4329b » Thu Jun 10, 2010 6:39 am

I'm a noob (main char is ~10 days old) and not affiliated with a village -- any tips on how to score a pickaxe? Not sure what I could possibly have to trade that would be of interest to anyone far enough along to make a pickaxe...

Chantrelles. High quality water/clay/soil. Mass bricks.

Linen. Silk. When you are further experienced.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

Thanks for the feedback!

...that's what I was afraid of. But ...but... my cellar craving is bad! :)

As for the rest: I can make bricks until I'm blue in the face -- but they're currently <20QL. Any idea what the community considers to be "high quality"? >50? >100? Or is there no real generalized concept, instead varying wildly from player to player based on their needs at the moment?

Lastly, perhaps a thought experiment to help give me some concept of the work ahead: say you had a (spare) pickaxe, what would you trade it for, right now?

Bricks bought in mass doesn't matter as they are generally used for brick walls and repairs. For water/soil/clay, it is subjective by 50+ is a guideline of a sort. Linen quality doesn't matter as they are genenrally used for banners. Silk quality depends if they are used for ranger gears (matters) or merchant robes (doesn't matter).

An example is our village can trade a pickaxe for 2 chestful of bricks or linen (not this may not be the actual price, just an example).

I should mention that you may need a mean to reach Constantinople as it is considered the central trading hub of this world.

Awesomely helpful info -- once again, thanks.

So: anyone want to trade a pickaxe for bricks? I can get to Constantinople, but it's quite a haul -- so paying in installments (i.e, multiple trips) might be necessary. Think layaway: I'll pay you X bricks up front, and once I've delivered them you reimburse me in the form of a shiny new pickaxe. PM me if you're interested.

There's a feature idea: some sort of escrow mechanic...

Being completely unfamiliar with the crossroad system, is there any reason Constantinople would or wouldn't want to give me -- just some Random Joe -- a crossroads sign...? I mean, it seems like they would want to hand them out, given that they want to be the trade hub...

they have a area designated for incoming traders, that can reach them through a crossroad so they wouldnt mind handing out more signs
