Lol using rustroot on the surface.

Stopped reading after that, but sabinati telling you to get fucked is not excessive swearing, he swore once.

Aldo search function, this game has been running since 2009, if you think of something, i can almost guarantee that it has been thought of before

sigh, the community here does my head in,

right then, Excessive : here is its meaning, its not a measure of quantity more the fact that he used it in an unnecessary manor

Adjective:
More than is necessary, normal, or desirable; immoderate.

----------

now what next....

"Lol using rustroot on the surface.

Stopped reading after that,"

idiot, i didnt say that at all, anywhere, im talking about recipes, perhaps reading past the first word would help you moron.

-------------

search function, yes its been here since 2009, the point being that there are in fact numerous old posts but the discovery mechanic relatively new - similarly while it might still have been mentioned previously i am mentioning it now as i want peoples input, times change so do opinions, if it where the case that everything has been discussed previously then the forums might as well not exist and we can all use the wiki for information - its a suggestions post in a suggestions thread, im suggesting something - im not planning on necroing some long dead post from 3-4 years ago

---------------

please post constructive criticism or comments after reading the whole posts please, im so sick of crap like this on forums, dont want to help devlop it or suggest / comment constructively? dont post.

and for reference sabinati swearing at all after a simple suggestion is excessive in any account, i wasn't being abusive it wasn't a comment of opinion, and i cant see how under any stretch of the imagination that is proper behavior for moderator staff. i don't log on here to be verbally abused by some comment-less nazi on a forum - want a bit of back storey on it? he didnt even read the post, he messaged me after i asked what his language was about and he had no idea what the post was about, +1 to the moderating team for that one, +1 to you ninja for defending something you know nothing about.

---------------

keep it on topic gents, and keep it constructive or get the hell of my post

Op, you are a fucking moron if for no other reason than you didn't bother to search and find the 500 threads that dis cuss this same point, but for sure because you are baiting a mod. If you don't like the game, get the hell out, no one here will miss you.

-sigh- I've had a good day so i'm in the mood to argue with people. :)

swaith wrote:not really an issue in some casses but in others it can be frustrating, for instance a miner like myself would love to use the 6-7 rustroots kept in storage for little old me safe in the knowledge that i have mining, prospecting, 68str a cave to mine in etc etc, only to weep when you realise that just having all the items in the inventory doesnt equate to knowing how to use them, IE, i had to get my exploration up 20 points before i could start to find rustroot so i could find 1 bit and thus earn the recipe

Thats the point. You have no idea how to use rustroot until you discover it. Could you invent a lightbulb without having first discovered electricity?

swaith wrote:BOOKS - perhaps make use of the cartography skill or make a similar skill called writing / reading, so that people with a recipe can write it down in a 1 / limited use item with the writing skill. for instance u might have to craft a book of a certain q for certain recipes, different sized books for more uses etc,

items required could be things like, parchment x 5, leather x2, string x 1 - or maybe have it so the q effects the uses of the book, every 10q is 1 use

book binding as a seperate skill to be used with sewing

Since discovery was implemented that has been suggested at least 7 times or so, and in more detail and practicality

swaith wrote:hi all, im a little worried about posting again after the lovely comment from sabinati - a global moderator who didnt think "get fucked" broke his own rule

"4. Inappropriate Content
No excessive swearing, posting malicious links or disturbing images. That includes NSFW images."

There is a thread for that already, stickied as well.

swaith wrote:no we all know how it works and in a lot of cases it stops character a going 100% in say farming and nothing else so we dont get 1 dimentional characters, BUT i suggest either letting items taken from village claims to be discovered when they are put in the inventory as opposed to having to be manufactured (leather for instance needs to be taken from a vat, bear fur from a rack etc etc)

so that people in villages can share the items out to those who can make use of them without waiting for that person to discover them.

Well I assume, there are people already onto layers 2 and 3, and possibly 4 if they are determined.. but I am quite sure that you are not among them

swaith wrote: im not planning on necroing some long dead post from 3-4 years ago

Half the point of the search function is to stop mindless idiots posting the same thing every month, and its other half is to make using those threads to your advantage, instead of a new thread you can either bump them by expanding their idea with your own, or at least linking them in your thread to build a clearer picture of what you are saying.

swaith wrote:and for reference sabinati swearing at all after a simple suggestion is excessive in any account,

I think that after all his experience here he knows that what you need is a bit of force behind the rejection of your idea to make you get the point. it obviously didn't work. And again, once is not excess

Perhaps you just know nothing of my knowing something, you just don't see that I know something and think I know nothing

and no, that is not meant to childishly attempt to confuse anyone, that is just my way of pointing out that you seem like an arrogant prick :)
swaith wrote: Excessive : here is its meaning, its not a measure of quantity more the fact that he used it in an unnecessary manor

Oh and thats not it's actual meaning, unless you are so cool that you change the meaning of words to fit your argument.

have I missed anything?

EDIT; it appears i did. +1 painhertz's post. I fully agree

Right then, since you need to be spoonfed, I'll just go ahead and do this here, in public, and everyone can feel free to help you understand:

swaith wrote:Subject: BETTER SERVER :D

sabinati wrote:Get Fucked

right and what in the name of hell is that for a response i suggest showing a bar to show donations needed to upgrade the server to improve performance *something a LOT of games do to pay for the costs of upgrades* so me and other people who want to donate can see our donations in action to address the serious lag issues that are affecting the player base and you tell me to get fucked and lock my topic? what kind of response is that

sabinati wrote:1. There is already a donation button on the bottom of the page
2. You suggest getting something in return for your donation, including something as ridiculous as resurrection
3. Clearly didn't read the rules

Here's the thing: the devs are working on a commercial product and are not doing much, if anything, with Haven right now. There isn't a donation meter because there isn't a fundraising goal. Donate, or don't; doing so will not improve the lag.
Secondly, a donation is money given without the expectation of getting something in return.
Third, let me break it down for you, here are some rules you ignored:

sabinati wrote:1. Read Before Posting
  • Read the stickies, read the wiki, read the titles of threads in the first page or two of the subforum to see if there is already an answer to your question, or if your idea has already been suggested
  • Don't forget about the search function! Threads that ask a question that has been answered in the wiki or another recent thread, or threads with commonly suggested ideas like "add bridges" will be moderated.

Think about how many times people replying to your threads have told you to use search. Ponder the reason, and reflect upon why this rule was created.

5. Spam
  • Please avoid making grab bag threads with multiple unrelated suggestions. Give each idea its own thread so posters can discuss its merits, so that ideas aren't overshadowed by more popular ideas, and so that they might be found later using the search tool.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23324

6. Sass
Any concerns regarding a moderated post or thread should be taken to the moderation discussion. Do not derail threads with posts discussing moderator actions.

Cease your blathering about it unless you can contain it to the above thread.

swaith wrote:1st i read the rules,

Are you willfully ignoring them, then?

2nd i was asking for a counter for donations NOT a button, i was suggesting that we get a counter to see how much it would take for a server upgrade to tackle lag problems a lot of us face, the "getting something back" comment about Resurrection (acctually so u keep all the stats / skills lost on death when you inherrit) was a toungue in cheek jibe at how it would be nice to get a return on donations, which i was actually referring to the counter as i said so in my post

derpderpderpderp

3rd you clearly didnt read my post - or didnt understand it and locked it prematurely before i got to explain to morons like you what i was talking about as you clearly didnt understand

Read it, understood it, and read it and understood it the first time it was suggested.

get fucked is something i really wasnt expecting from somone who can lock a post, why on earth you think thats a responsible and fair comment when you didnt even take the time to read what i posted is beyond me, now why dont you stop with the sarcasm in your replies? the hell is wrong with you anyway - a freindly post and all i got was shit on and then your oh so lovely comment to top it off, whats the point in posting if i get people like you moderating the forums.

as for rules im pretty sure your comment broke them - i dont recall verbal abuse being one of them

i mean jesus christ - lighten the hell up

Saying "get fucked" once isn't verbal abuse. I mean Jesus Christ - lighten the hell up.

As for this topic, books have been suggested numerous times as curios, ways to learn skills, and as a method of discovery. You can discover items from a barter stand, and that solves the problem that you have.

Hope this helps!

Insulting the audience you're trying to "sell" your idea to is bad.

You can discover items by purchasing them from a barter stand. Invest in making one if you need discoveries. Until such a system gets implemented such as books (already suggested fyi so I'm pretty sure Jorbtar has this form of making discoveries in mind), the barter stand discovery bug will realistically stay in place (just like how the tanning bug still exists until there is a better solution for maps unloading).

Don't get offended or try to fight the system in Haven and Hearth (referring to the comment about Sab), you're just more fresh meat for the trolls to get to. You've basically alienated yourself from this community. My suggestion is you quit HnH and move on with your life.

OP. You're fighting a losing war. Sometimes, it's better to just admit you lost and live to fight another d... Oh... wait. Better idea. Stop fighting.

 after reading the first half of his post I was thinking 'whats wrong with a barter stand', then saw the replies and had to go back and finish reading it. gotta love it when someone knows nothing about how something works but wants to fix it, and gets mad when people tell them it doesn't work that way.
