How? Just like me saying "Here's an onion" and handing you a beet. It's a scam. Sure, it's mostly harmless, just like sending someone to the wrong youtube video, but still dishonest, and thus a scam by definition.

If it's not his link (I really don't care to look and couldn't give a rats ass), then so be it. Someone's trying to get one up on everyone else. It's all par for the course around here.

edit: Maybe it was pure coincidence that the OP got put up at the same time many others were spamming their referral links for the Salem beta. Beats me. I just calls spades when I see 'em.
