i understand where youre coming from, Amanda, but two things.

You have to remember that all religions believe theirs is the one true god and all others are false

not all religions, but maybe all "Abrahamic religions".
our gods accept all other gods, animism and Buddha too. Syncretism ftw
so, we have no worries about visiting shrines on new years day, getting married at any church or shrine, doing funerals at buddhist temples, celebrating christmas and watching nativity play, welcoming deads on Obon (when the dead and ancestors come back home temporarily), still playing along with halloween, asking shamans to exorcize evil spirits, reading Taoism and Confucius at school, and so on.
there is one common phrase when we pray;
"神様、仏様、～様/Dear God-sama, Buddha-sama, and *put any name of the one you worship*-sama!"
there are no false gods to us and we pay respect to them all
i think ancient european gods like greek gods and roman gods did accept multiple gods to worship, too, iirc.

Yes, I was wrong to say all religions, however, if you look back into the history of most it is not just abrahamic religions. The greeks and the romans did indeed have many gods but still within their own cultural beliefs, they certainly didn't accept the god of christian religion, at that point in time anyway, lol.

Part of the many reasons I came out the other side was through investigating other religions and realising how much they change and adapt to suit the needs and views of the times. The christians and catholics are changing the laws of their religions as we speak to become more modern, as have most religions with the execption of the abrahamic religions, which is why their views seem so outdated and extreme to us.

Anyway, that said, I agree it's BS. You don't see Christians making death threats when somebody satirizes Christ. For the most part, Christianity has grown into the modern world. (Still has issues with fags and abortion, though, and OB/GYNs getting blown up and shot.) Used to be like that, though. Back in the days, you didn't even get a death threat. You were just arrested by the local constable, then chained and tortured until dead or you recanted, at which point you were mercifully put to death.

Also: old news. Just ask Salman Rushdie about death threats.

On the whole, religion is just a mixture of made up stories to explain the unexplainable to people who fear death. It's also a tool used to gain leverage on people to better yourself or to justify your actions.

But was that removed? NO! this may sound disrespectful to oh-so-religious people, but frankly, it is always people who decide what is allowed and what isnt by their own translation at each time of the era. they seem to have no faith in their own god for others to believe him and have to dis others or something?

Christian god says "love your neighbor", right? how cant he love his own neighbor gods? of course he does, or, he should.
