When they intend on shutting it down you get a pop up msg in-game. This is just a crash - no new world guys, get over it.

It's happened before that the server crashed and they couldn't get it up with all the save files or something. Don't know the details, but it's happened before.
But I strongly doubt a new world

dackT-E, there isn't going to be a World 7 yet. Also why would you need World 6 to last 4 more days? The argument with your friends' hearthsecrets doesn't make sense.

Catastrophic hard drive failure, entire sectors of the world (EG; Supergrids) were unable to be restored, so we had these HUGE gaping holes in the world, it was pretty nutty.

How would adding them to your friends list help you if everything is wiped when World 7 happens (including your friends list, your friends' chars, HS's, everything)?
