Like I said, less unappealing. There are at least some very real difficulties involved in deciphering captchas. I, obviously, don't actively like it. (And, to be clear, still do not intend to spend a second of dev time to devise a system for it)

somebody please give datoneguy and atherman there own little doohickey here in the forums and they can go after each other like happy little puppies fighting over a rancid bone.

bitchin and whinin about macros is fine and well. and obviously a soapbox many people enjoy either crawling up on or else delightfully kicking out from under you.

jorb aint gonna do a damn thing about it until he decides too and all your arguments and numbers and what have you is only making him wish one of the single person town-killers would come and explain to you the difference between putting on your big girl panties and dealing with it and running to mommy every time the big bully pulls your pigtails.

and my apologies to all of those who just winced cause i ran the sentences to gether.

True.

His entire silk production process is automated on a second account, leaving him free to do as he wishes while still collecting silk.

False.

Other things he may choose to do could include say... grinding up his combat stats.

I think the wording was more like 'would be possible to extend it'.

... seems like an issue for Jorb ...

While Jorb visited me to hand me a nice blue cape some days ago (thanks again for it, the bragging rights buff is awesome!) I had a nice long ingame talk with him about robots, you can be sure he is aware of the topic and the problems connected to it.

Nevertheless i'm happy about this thread regarding the topic, please keeep it constructive.

I take it your direct ancestors name is 'None'. You absolutely win or lose in this game. To say otherwise is beyond laughable. You would have to be absolutely retarded, or try swimming (which is the same thing anyway) to die in this game without coming into direct conflict with another player. Not that direct conflict is the only measuring stick for winning and losing, but it's a pretty good one for h&h, considering the penalties associated with losing in pvp are greater than any other penalty in this game, or many others.

Aside from that silliness, I wanted to say I like Athermans idea, and anyone who wants to have a little cry about having to type in a word occasionally needs to worry more about their fat lazy fingers and less about their bots being banned. Not that I want Atherman to get the idea that all is forgiven ;)

It's also something that would need developing at some point before any live release. Make a list of successful games that allow people to abuse mechanics to get ahead rather than playing the game. Compare it to the list of those that make even a token effort to prohibit abusing the systems used by the designers.

Better yet, consider the list of games that release with inadequate protection, immediately begin hemorrhaging players, desperately try to bandaid it, finally get systems in place after a large percentage of players are gone, and then begin offering free months play to returning players. I have an email from Adventurine in my inbox right now offering me free Darkfall. The only two discussions anyone ever had on the Darkfall forums were bloodwalling (macroing) vs the grind, and magic vs physical. I stopped playing because I disliked the homogenous nature of darkfall characters, where everyone was required to learn melee AND magic in order to be competitive, but obviously many others left because they disliked the fact that you were required to macro to be competitive.

That's one of the best hackjobs on a quote I've ever seen. Do you work for newscorp? Primarily would like to point out that it 'seems like an issue for Jorb' to be stating that people raising this issue are 'talking out their asses' when it's blatantly obvious that it occurs. As I said in the post. Generally when we take comments out of context we try to do it in situations where the other person isn't around to point out that you're being a dick :P He has since made it clear what he meant by 'This' anyway.

Other little details include things like you mentioning that your bot even autologged in after crashes, and greeted people as it walked about, so I'd be curious to find out what parts of the process are NOT automated. Or the fact that you might think the wording was 'blahblahblah' but they're my words, and I know exactly what I was saying and implying, and thus why I would choose the words that I did.... 'time saved farming silk = time spent grinding up combat stats, no such thing as a bot that doesn't help in pvp'. Jog your memory?

OK then, since i was around to see how you distorted the meaning of the statements I made on IRC, deliberately quoting me wrong:

Yeah, you can't think of any distortion at all. All you need to do is tell us which part of the process is not automated and I'm happy to take you at your word

Believe me Elirian, trolling, or even argueing while you know you're not right for that matter doesnt make you loved here. You better stop this, as all posts I read from Granger are posts with thought behind them and you're just meh, trolling about.
