Fair warning, the game is currently suffering from a lack of development and has a bad case of the lags.

Hello and welcome to Haven and Hearth, Alberto :)

While you have indeed chosen an interesting game that will give you much freedom playing, you should know a few things before you really get into it.

First of all the game is currently not in development. That means there are a lot of bugs and exploits around plus severe lags. (I see someone beat me to saying it while I am typing). We all do not know when the devs will find time for HnH again, currently they are developing a professional project called Salem.

Second the forums and the game too can be a harsh place. The game has permadeath and open PvP, means at any time someone could ruin all your progress so far and you will have to start over. This kind of mechanic is kinda necessary for a game like HnH, but it will also attract people that particularly enjoy the killing part. So don't be too disappointed should you loose your character or your homestead. It will happen sooner or later.

Hi Alberto,

I hope you have great fun here in spite of the lag problems, bugs, exploits, imminent death and the harsh community, fingers crossed.

Welcome to the game!

Probably best to spend your time reading the wiki and How Do I? rather than the rest of the forums. Sevenless' guide is a pretty good read.

Discoveries won't be your main source of LP, curiosities will. So make cone cows, raid anthills near water, raise exploration, and forage for curiosities...
Don't buy swimming until you've raised your CON by quite a bit. Drowning... #1 cause of newbie deaths.
Try to live away from high-traffic areas such as rivers, lakes, or villages full of strangers.
Until you claim your land, you don't technically own anything on it, so get Yeomanry before you stockpile anything valuable.
Walls are important for keeping out murderers and thieves.
Do not do any criminal acts unless you are prepared for the consequences.

Hi Alberto :D
Be welcome, enjoy the game and make many new friends.

There are a lot of abused game mechanics, it is true, but it is also a lovely game, there is a lot of really nice people and there are ways to defend yrself from the bugs and griefing > so the only real thing that we have to bear is the lag.
