Wikimedia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Lots of money and political power to be had as a result of the move to the Washington DC area. I'll wager the board of directors at wikimedia also happen to be board members of other 501(c)(3) non-profit charity organizations.
For people unaware, the 501 charity non-profit tax code is a shelter for all sort of illicit money laundering scams, political influence peddling and lawyers connected to congressional staff on Capitol Hill. FreedomWorks (right wing) is listed as a 501(3)(c) non-profit and headed by former Republican House of Representatives member Dick Armey (shaking down recalcitrant right wing politicians and skimming $$ from the tea party movement) and Media Matters for America, a left wing disinformation organization, headed by Democrat Party apparatchik and scummy weasel David Brock.
MMFAFreedomWorksSimply put, information is power. Unscrupulous wiki board members wield considerable power and will, at some point in the near future, leverage that power to influence elections and contentious debates during congressional legislative actions. Hogwash? Fair enough. Check out the wiki edit war(s) during the period Jan 1, 2012 to Jan 1, 2013. Most edit wars are a direct result of media driven political agitation, political activism, astroturfing and sys-op skulduggery.
Heh.
Why is it illegal to download a wiki site? CC-BY-SA content is freely distributed, open source material, with very few copyright provisions.
