Muslim extreamists even affect haven and hearth

Postby overtyped » Tue Aug 20, 2013 6:15 am

So, I read an article about muslim extreamists threatening a danish newspaper with death threats for posting a cartoon that showed muhammad, and a bounty being posted for the death of the writer of that comic. So i was moved by the bravery of these fellows. So I changed my profile picture to the picture of one of those cartoons, and within a few hours it was taken down. There are things in every day life that may offend you, for example, sabinati had a avatar of a hentai girl orgasming, I found that offensive, and I'm damn sure a lot of you did too, and was that removed? NO!

It looks like our freedom of expression is under attack even in these very forums. I'm grateful to live in a time where I'm still able to voice my thoughts, but it seems we are losing even that, and who knows for how long we will keep freedom of expression. Even now in Copenhagen they are trying to pass a law where it will be illegal to slander religion, especially the muslim one.

Also here's some fun facts about the so called religion of peace:
Penalty for leaving islam is death
Women showing too much skin is also the death penalty.
In islamic countrys, anyone who isn't islamic pays a special tax.
If you are living in an islamic country and you are not islamic, they can lynch rob and rape you as they please, with little penalty.
If they are athiest, you are to kill them on the spot.
Women are worth half men, and so on... the list is endless..

Here is the pic by the way, if it isn't removed by the time you read this.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Religion has and always will be a double-edged sword - on the one hand if you are a believer it can be a good moral guide and brings peace of mind to many, on the other its the cause of more wars than anything else in history.

Personally I don't believe but, I went through a period when I did, after a pretty traumatic event and I have to admit it was helpful, it also changed me in certain ways for the better, more tolerant of peoples misdeads, less judgemental, more understanding and induced a greater love for the natural world in general.

You have to remember that all religions believe theirs is the one true god and all others are false, the same goes for cultural differences, muslims see the western world as evil, our women are provocative and sinful, non believers are dangerous and a threat, and so on, and so on. I'm not trying to defend extremists, obviously, but I get where muslims in general are coming from and there are extremists in all religions.

The old testament in christian religion teaches much of the same stuff, women are secondary to men, non believers should be avoided at all costs and so on and so on. And we all like to believe that 'our' way is the right way.

I like to hope that one day we will all be on the same page and religion will fade away completely as science explains more widely to people the origins of life.
Basicaly we are all just part of one huge recycling centre from the stars in the night sky to the smallest grain of sand here on earth, the sooner everyone understands this the better.

I'm a Christian and I think most that ive known have believed and followed the new testament and the teachings of jesus. The old testament is closer to muslim beliefs imo. It's packed full of great and adventourous tales, but to follow everything it says would be insane nowadays. The bible and other books from religions around the world can provide guideposts that can help you in tough times, but don't lose common sense. As far as the image that over wanted to use. I wouldn't take it personally if it was a picture of Jesus. Everyones welcome to express themselves imo. It's a hard life and we all have to find what gets us to the next day. taking offense at something so small is just silly. Just my 2 cents. Have a great day!

youve still got a chance to walk out of this before everyone loses regardless of the outcome.

i understand where youre coming from, Amanda, but two things.
Amanda44 wrote:You have to remember that all religions believe theirs is the one true god and all others are false

not all religions, but maybe all "Abrahamic religions".
our gods accept all other gods, animism and Buddha too. Syncretism ftw
so, we have no worries about visiting shrines on new years day, getting married at any church or shrine, doing funerals at buddhist temples, celebrating christmas and watching nativity play, welcoming deads on Obon (when the dead and ancestors come back home temporarily), still playing along with halloween, asking shamans to exorcize evil spirits, reading Taoism and Confucius at school, and so on.
there is one common phrase when we pray;
"神様、仏様、~様/Dear God-sama, Buddha-sama, and *put any name of the one you worship*-sama!"
there are no false gods to us and we pay respect to them all
i think ancient european gods like greek gods and roman gods did accept multiple gods to worship, too, iirc.

science is another religion ;)

----------------

to op
your list of accusation looks ban-worthy to me. what you are saying is not about freedom of expression. it just seems a slander of what little you know about another religion using the extremists history. (the bounty sounds retarded, but it shouldnt make you as retarded as those extremists.)
im not reporting it here for now only to avoid making borka take actions again to let you all whine and complain.
