Irrelevant, old news

If the 2.5D update comes with a revert of the awful study system, I know a dozen or more people who would immediately start playing again.

And not even playing the game to gain LP is better? I really enjoy two hours of playing giving me enough LP to learn a basic starter skill, when before I would have had a handful of them. I sure like how none of my actions actually build skill, instead, looking at a dragonfly for a while somehow makes me a better blacksmith.

Then you have the issue with alt characters who do nothing but eat food and "study" and they're just as good as your only character who you have invested actual time into. At least with the old LP system, an alt character had to actually do something to build LP. Yes, including deforesting to make buckets.

The study system is horrible, unrewarding, and un"fun". What you do, gives you nothing, and what you aren't even doing (studying, which is automatic) is how you gain your exp? Right. That's way better.

Your complaint is bots? Why? Because they advance their characters without actual work? Because if that's your complaint, I hate to break it to you, but that is literally the same as it is now.

It's funny because you can't argue for the past system. It was objectively complete garbage.
Of another era.

I don't feel like writing a big post, because already been through that discussion with exactly same arguments 53 times. So I'll just name one major difference, which makes the old system suck hard:
With current system you can run your bots 24/7 and collect 5 cupboards of edels everyday, but your char will study the same amount of them at the time, as some newby collecting 15 edels per week on standart client.

And I can play for 12 hours, while you play for 12 minutes, and we will have ended up at exactly the same amount of LP earned.

Yay progress!

You forgot that part, when your industry grows way faster > you get better quality curios, food and everything else > you're getting more lp and can easily pwn me in every aspect of the game, while I'm still studying ants and dragonflies with my 12 minutes online.

All people whining about current LP system are just trying to excuse their non-existing survival skills with "bad study".
I'm really fucking surprised too see that amount of bullshit in this thread about how easy current system is.
Do you really think that people get curiosities from nowhere, just by thinking about it? Foraging requires certain areas nearby, some time and a bit of luck, while botting buckets 24/7 doesnt require shit. As Grape already said, this system allows newcomers to catch up with older players much more easily (and without chopping down a few SGs of forest), minimizing the difference in LP acquiring speed between them.

Approximately 90% of known to me people, who are whining about current LP system, are just noobs. Not newbies, newcomers or new players, just usual noobs, who stay on the same development level for years, who can't learn nothing new and who are thinking that old LP system will make them the gods of Haven. It's actually quite funny, there are people, who act likewise, it's people who are always asking for a new world every month.

I can't make crops grow faster, or maybe kilns fire faster, etc.

The entire game is about time investment, and when somebody has to invest 1/10 the amount of time of another person and stay at the same total LP as them there's something wrong with the system.

All games like this can be played casually, putting you at a skill disadvantage while letting you play at your own pace, or non-casually which requires a large time investment while letting you advance quicker. But as it is now, I'd rather queue a couple study objects them just play a different game. Especially if I already have storage/housing built, because why do anything else in game? I'll get LP while doing nothing so it's not like I've stopped advancing. Why not just gain all of my LP from the safety of my cellar where nobody will ever possibly find me?

When was the last time you actually ran into somebody in game? Because I haven't in world 7.

Edit:
I like how the only complaint about the old system is "BUT BOTS!". You think bots don't still exist?

It happens same often as back in w3. Almost never.
Once again: to get curios you need to put some effort, even bots for current system are way more complicated. Now you actually have to go outside once in a while. And with old system you could just run digging or farmer bot and stay inside forever.
