Ah yeah, sorry, but the idea just caught me. I was thinking of maybe setting out to build some massive road before the game ended. Maybe a yellow brick road :D But this sounds like a lot of fun too, and I was looking for some different way to pass time in HnH until world four.

It's unannounced when world 4 will come. And when it comes, everything will be deleted. You will have to make new chars etc.

If you log back in a wagon you still log in in the seat unless the wagon is destroyed. I'd support your nomadic horde if you ever came into one of our forts but the greatest challenge I would believe would be either protecting your stuff or protecting yourselves depending on your location. In the outer rings, it takes a while to get into trade lanes so you would need to find a way to protect all your valuable stuff from noob griefers and theives. You probably want combat skills to sack smaller homesteads so you can camp there for a day or so. In the civilized zones I don't think you need to badly protect anything. There's plenty of people to meet and camp with for a day or so, and plenty of cities to keep around for good trade and quasi-protection. Problem is stealing from someone else would be more difficult due to the number of people (and griefers) who can track down scents to your obviously unprotected hearths.

If you're going to do this I recommend you actually not start up an oxcart platoon and instead have a fleet of boats in the outer ring with a bunch of people with slings and AT LEAST 30 marksmanship and good enough perceptionxexploration to see chantrelles and cavebulbs (when you get in caves), around 500. You can put your boats in the middle of the river to make sure nobody steals anything (or ideally in a lake), but you'll have to repair them often and log on to make sure they don't rot. If you find an abandoned river settlement (or one owned by new players), you can set down there for a day.

Well I don't think he was necessarily proposing sacking people. Most trade could be done with nople with a village idol nearby to teleport to (and of course the HF to get back). The only real problem I see which I didn't think of before is agility. Dunno how much but its got to be a ton to get from nople to the edge of the world. Perhaps the trade trips could be kept to a minimum, done in bulk, and the convoy could move a day's travel inland to camp at trade times. Still it would take some figuring out. It definitely would be nice if you could find towns along your route to trade with for essential things (repair materials for instance, and foods for whatever stats you couldn't easily produce on the move) but I don't know how practical it would be. Trade in nople is mostly bulk items that higher level people don't feel like collecting - chants, low quality linen and bulbs - for items they can easily produce but which are completely out of the range of the lower level players. On the borders they're not as likely to have much except for metal, not as likely to be populated enough to have anyone online when you need to trade (since you keep moving and don't really want to camp near cities) and most importantly probably not as unwilling to collect those low level items. There's not going to be as much to trade with them that nomads can collect because they're probably not as high of level and boosting their stats as furiously and they can probably get what they need of those items.

It could be a problem, but it could be worked around somehow. Either the larger towns that trade for easy to collect things near the borders would have to be found beforehand and mapped out on the route or something would have to be done to get one of the party members with high agility, and then trips inland made to port to nople.

The problem there is finding a village, or a lot of them that are willing to let you use their xroads and let you stay in their area for a while. That's why you'll need to sack people, and why they'll steal from you. It's very difficult to acquire things, and the nomads in the outer ring I've met are nothing like the hunting nomads I know in the inner zones where I am now. Out there none of them say 'Hi' back and all they do is stalk you if you look like you have metal, cavebulbs, jewelry, or anything else of significant value. When you land they park at the nearest abandoned cabin they know of and cook their meat waiting for you to leave or log out. If you want to live you're going to have to steal eventually, because EVERYONE will try to steal from you, lost explorers, traveling prospectors, nomads, noobs, and hermits alike. Maybe even villagers and homestead members. There are literally people just going up and down the river looking for things to steal.

Also, the population in the outer ring is 1 per area. It's not very high, and there's hardly any towns. Furthermore, I don't know many people who have maps to those areas.
