You have a very twisted view of the outer rim HHG but we are not all like that; The village I live in is in the outer rim and I have never known a friendlier lot.

Seems pertty good, so I guess I can help. I know alot about this game, and it would be fun to actually start a city/mine from scratch. I can cook, hunt, farm, build, forage and alot more. I think that I met you in-game once actually, and I am pretty commited too. So, PM me if your interested.

Oh, and for long caravan trips like wandering around the outer ring, depending on the group, you wont be able to survive long. Sure, two or three people you can feed by hunting, but your talking about a village. If you want to survive, you would at least have to loot unclaimed places. Also, besides food, you need supplies; at minimum two wagons for about 10 people, gauzes, armour, weapons, tools and the raw materials that you would need to set up a secure camp, and eventually a city. Also, for most people, farming is the main scource of food, added onto by hunting, fishing and gathering. But, no crop in this game grows overnight, so you got the main scource of food gone. And let me tell you from experiance, feeding 10+ people without farming, its a struggle. Oh yeah, and then you also have to feed the cows that are pulling the wagon, and your trough will run out eventually, so you would have to sack some fields to feed them and keep going. I'm not saying it's a bad idea to do this, but you have to be very careful.

It's fine if you settle down, noone bothers you. I started in the outer rim at least 2 hours from nople before I moved in. My friends and I had an old fort with a palisade up, but before we got the palisade we had quite a number of 'experiences' with nomads stalking us on boats before landing at cabins, cooking, and doing it again. We met collectively 1 'friendly' person.

Then there were 4 stalker nomads, a deserted Russian village with a guy who shot at whoever walked near, a bunch of hermits who take things, a tribe of cart nomads who took over a small fort, But Shadow has a good point too, you need to feed the cows, so I'd still suggest just going on boats or carts, probably boats.

HHG wrote:The problem there is finding a village, or a lot of them that are willing to let you use their xroads and let you stay in their area for a while. That's why you'll need to sack people, and why they'll steal from you. It's very difficult to acquire things, and the nomads in the outer ring I've met are nothing like the hunting nomads I know in the inner zones where I am now. Out there none of them say 'Hi' back and all they do is stalk you if you look like you have metal, cavebulbs, jewelry, or anything else of significant value. When you land they park at the nearest abandoned cabin they know of and cook their meat waiting for you to leave or log out. If you want to live you're going to have to steal eventually, because EVERYONE will try to steal from you, lost explorers, traveling prospectors, nomads, noobs, and hermits alike. Maybe even villagers and homestead members. There are literally people just going up and down the river looking for things to steal.

Also, the population in the outer ring is 1 per area. It's not very high, and there's hardly any towns. Furthermore, I don't know many people who have maps to those areas.

Doesn't sound any different from the inside. People are robbing everywhere. I just got my boat w/ all my shit stolen by some pumpkinhead noobcicle in the middle of the constantinople market. Since I had my sling in a crate in the boat there wasn't shit I could do about it either. To the op never mind on the join, I think I'm just going to wait for world four after this bullshit.

Well of course... you left valuable stuff in a public square, but I'm talking about at home. When I uncovered this cave network, I found that all the claims and villages around it were deserted, but there were a lot of nomads, but all the nomads around me only hunt and trade leather, and despite going on the river to trade or get things from my friend's places and our old forts I've never been stalked once, and everyone I pass by is alot friendlier. Even on trips to the center of the world I've never been harassed once. I think it's because it's a lot easier to get high-leveled goods in the inner ring due to the proximity to nople than in the outer places. Either that or I'm just a rare coincidence.

That was an example, but the guy took it in the middle of a market with a couple of well armored apparently high level people around (it was nice how none of them did anything either lol), and even I was armored though obviously as I said didn't have my weapon on hand at the time. It was dumb, and people will take dumb risks in the center just because there are better pickings. he probably just created that character for raiding people coming into that market, and its not even his main. And there are plenty of people who go around knocking over walled towns and cities. The outer ring is bound to be safer if for no other reason than the fact that there aren't as many people and the high level griefers aren't likely to go there because there's slim pickings.

It's safer for you as a character (I've already said that), but easier to lose stuff.
