Rothgard recruiting

Postby Tacheron » Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:20 am

Ok, we're back again and ready to accept new members to our ever-growing village :)

However, this time we would like to narrow our search to people with specific skills to take up occupations that we could use in the village.
We need the following:

- a LEATHERWORKER - by that I mean a person who may do his own thing in his free time but MUST fulfill leather orders from the village. Yes, this means leather of low q as well as high q (high quality hides, tanning tubs and water will be provided by the other villagers...matter of fact, low q mats will be provided as well). Apply if you enjoy making leather.

- a FISHERMAN - and by that I mean a person who, again - may do his own thing in his free time but MUST fulfill orders for fish from the village cooks. And by THAT I mean that when we ask for i.e. bream or eel or whatnot, we DON'T mean 10cb worth of perch, lol :D There might be a little pop quizz when you join based on the wiki info about fishing to see if you know what you're doing...even better, you can bring a piece of every known HnH fish to us as a tribute :D

- a SOLDIER - now, we have specific requirements for this. You gotta have either unarmed or melee combat skills between 50-100ish and you must do a sparring match with one of our soldiers upon joining to assess your skills. You should also have a secondary skill useful to the village (would be ideal if you were also the leatherworker or fisherman mentioned above :D). If not, you can always do some other stuff that needs doing around the village and requires no incremental skills. If you don't have impressive armor and weapons, you will be supplied with the best we can make/trade for. However, to protect ourselves from people who think this would be a sweet deal before running off, you will be required to leave trespassing and theft scents in a secure location before you're handed some armor and weapons - so we can have some sort of "collateral" ;) You'll just have to trust us that we won't kill you in your sleep for funsies :D

Now, to expand on some of our other requirements. We've recently started to use voice comms in our village, namely Ventrillo. So if you wanna join, you are expected to have/procure a headset or a mic or whatever. If you're inexperienced with setting it up, we'll help you, no problem, you just must be willing to actually use it when you play - at least to listen if you can't speak.

Another thing I must warn you about. We have a zero tolerance policy on crime within our village as well as outside of it. Trespassing will only get you berated, more severe crimes will get you killed. Also, being a jackass, being suspected of malicious intent, being overly demanding whilst not contributing much - all these will probably get you killed as well. On a brighter note, being a well rounded, psychosocially stable person, with a sense of humor and tolerance for gay jokes (Brokeback Mansion ftw, for any players that like to live with "roommates" in their mansions - it can be arranged :D), will probably make your stay in Rothgard a very pleasant experience. Also, you're probably gonna find numerous helping hands when you join us and even more when you prove yourself ;)

Some more info - we limit plot sizes, but it's pretty big: 40x50 or 50x40. That's plenty space for anyone but the most hardcore farmers/treetenders. In fact, if you don't intend on taking up secondary professions which require all that space, you'll be granted a somewhat smaller space. Also, unless you are applying for the soldier's position, you have the option of living within the village walls or within 2 minimaps of the village. You'll get your own set of crossroads in any case, so that you don't have to use keys. We are working on making xroads to all our resource spots, so you can reach them all via porting. The village gates stay closed and the keys...which keys? :D

Ok, so what can YOU expect to gain? You get access to advice from experienced players, a helpful/friendly community, access to almost all types of metal and mid q resources of all types, diligent chefs, farmers and hunters which will make sure all your FEP needs are met and much more. ATM there is 16 of us, all active in different timezones, so there's always someone online, mostly there's up to 10 people online, haven't seen us all online at the same time yet since we weren't attacked yet, but we can muster at least 10 of us in a hurry if needed :) I'd prefer some European players since we have less of those (me being one of them :D) but that's really not an issue.

SO!

Feel free to apply, I'd prefer PM's but posts here will do as well. However, don't bother applying unless you either have enough posts here in the forums (and I'm looking for quality posts, where you state your opinions, argument stuff and such, not short posts which tell us nothing about you) so that we can discern what kind of personality you have OR you can put some effort into your application (the latter case requires it to be a PM) so that we can exchange some thoughts before you are deemed fit to join us.

Well I'd join because Shadowfield is deadish, but my last experience wasn't a good one.

Hi, I'm thinking that you know why your last experience wasn't a good one. but i give you props for not airing out your feelings on the forums(cause there are 2 sides to every story)

but as for you coming back? . . . I wouldn't count on it. But hey i'm not a recruiter. I would suggest you PM Tacheron. but honestly. I wouldnt hold your breath m8.

Man, i`d be glad to bring other types of fish, but that spot contains only perch and pike. And the other spot`s ql is pretty low.

To counter your question, Reimad - why do you want to know? Huh, HUH? :D

@Zekera, I like your incentive, but please reread my post about the proper way to apply ;)

Because I am now at a point where palisades aren't enough to satisfy my paranoia

Also, because I have a few chests I'd like to take with me if I decide to leave the grid I'm in now

I don't expect an invite into Rothgard, but I'm just saying about my experience. I was just trying the full aspects of the game out. During my time at shadowfield I learned how to smelt, make wrought iron and steel, make cheese, and a bit more. Everything I do is a learning experience, but there's not much left to learn now I suppose. Except for jewelcrafting and bronze smelting
