Newbie jack-of-all trades looking for home, mines prefered

Hi, I started playing ages ago but lost intrest as other stuff came up. My neighbours (village is a bit of a grand term for our huts) kept playing but seem to have dropped off. Now I'm looking for a new home, preferably with a mine. I'm pretty active 1/2 hours a day usually, and dont take up much space. I'd be willing to contribute to village stockpiles as I'm trying to get my SP/XP up to a level where striking out alone is feasable. Anyone want me?

On a related note: How do you get to places quickly without creating a new character? I'm in a pretty isolated position (20mins to nearest town and there are many rivers in the way) so there are no crossroads...

UPDATE: I found a road called 'Ivan'. Anyone near that?

NEW UPDATE: I found a one man village called BroomRidge. The map is down for me atm so I cant look for it.

I know, but the map doesnt help if I dont know where on it I am, and the only way to find myself is to find a village.

There is a well known way to "teleport" to a village, but its hard to understand the first time. First, the cheiftain or lawspeaker joins a party with you, and makes you take the oath of allegiance. Then, you destroy your hearthfire, log out and when you log back in, you can teleport to your village idol with 100% travel wearyness and whatever you were carrying.

No don't do that, it will drop whatever is next to you. You can do it while your logged in.
