The Republic of New Claywater - Recruiting

Postby Colten » Tue Jun 15, 2010 5:47 am

New Claywater currently consists of just me and my sister, and so with just two people were a pretty small village. However, we could use some more members to help us out.

Upon joining you will be allotted a 21x21 lot to construct your house and farm, etc. There will be public facilities for kilns and ovens, but you are free to construct your own. There is also currently a public farm, but that is just until we get a decent amount of crops, at which point I will distribute them out and from there on you are expected to provide for yourself.

You are required to speak fluent English. Please note as of now we are not an actual village, so you will have to create a new character or migrate here if you wish to join. PM me if you wish to join or have any questions.

A 21x21 is a damn tiny plot especially for a farm AND a house.

Yeah I realized that after I actually constructed a 21x21. Ill need to figure out how to expand them and still fit the grid, perhaps a rectangular shape instead of square...

Just as a continued point of advice, I wouldn't do less than 40x40 plots. This gives people enough room for just about anything they could want to do, and extra room for reorganization later. Sometimes you don't think of a better way to do it until it's already set up, so having the extra room to work with can help you get everything reworked, or allow for future development additions which take up more space. The smaller the plots, the more each village member has to be dependent on the community resources, which can be taxing on a new village.

Thanks for the tip. Yeah, I think Im just going to start with bigger plots, and ignore the previous grid. Wont look too pretty, and the roads will be messed up a bit, but its worth it in the long run
