Tanning reset fix

Postby Vattic » Mon Jun 01, 2009 2:19 am

It's annoying when it happens, all that waiting for nothing and all, would it be possible to advance everyone's tanning by a set amount when servers come back up to compensate?

I'd imagine there were problems with this suggestion I haven't seen but I thought I should bring it up anyway.

More precisely, that tanning tubs should be reimplemented more or less from scratch. Their current code is really old and ugly (as I mentioned elsewhere, they were the first things that actually used the game's "real time", and they were a bit experimental at the time).

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. The next time I restart the server (for whatever reason; crash or otherwise), I'll try and make sure that hide left in the tanning tubs is tanned immediately.

Okay, question. It appears you made this change now, but does fox skin/sheep skin become leather? Because both of them are sitting at 93% now and I wonder if that means they can't, or if I have to take them out and put them back in.

They do become leather, but you'll just have to wait a few minutes for those last 7% to finish. If you take them out and put them back in, they will indeed be reset.

One more question from me, most likely my last one this matter. Will this be happening when the server crashes in the future, before you update how those tanning tubs work anyway?

I ask because otherwise this will only be a small increase in the amount of leather in the game and once that's all used up then we will be in the same situation again.

No, I'll retain that until I replace the tantubs completely.
