Umm explain something to me?

So I'm going away from my settlement, you know. To get materials like Nettle, and all that. I come across a village and me having never seen one before I get close to it as possible (maybe for some memorable screenshots? But one of the members of it, comes out and threatens me. I was polite about it all, explaining I was merely traveling west and wasn't going to steal anything (no point right? the people earned it themselves- unless they become friends and it was given but this wasn't the case).

Alas, I continued West and he persisted. I explained that I wasn't going to take anything (maybe a couple apples and a rotted corpse? Open game stuff so I dont starve). After a while, I noticed he was still following me. I tried to explain that I didn't mean any disrespect and that for all intents and purposes I was out of his property. So in a burst of frustration, I used all caps asking where his "claimed" "borders" was. And he started to attack me >_>, despite being tragically far from his entire village.

So explain to me, why it is I got assaulted?

He didn't get to kill me, I managed to get away but still... that's hardly a justification.

It's a justification in H&H. Guys can kill you in game just because you tell them you're a black man in real life.

Probably because he could. In a sandbox game, the question isn't "why?" anymore, it's "why not." Turn your situation around and ask at the end of it, "why should he not have attacked me?" In his position he could only gain from a victory and you made yourself out to be an obvious tryhard roleplayer (potential easy target). Good for you to have escaped but don't be so surprised. Wondering "why" people behave negatively (not just in H&H, but in real life in general) puts you at a disadvantage.

See thats the thing, I don't RP. But I do enjoy Sandbox games for the politeness and potential expansion of whatever you're doing. And before you say it, yes I do own Minecraft but lately I've been enjoying this game much more. And for me it's always "Why?" because to do a negative act, consequences or not is a bad thing lol...

I understand it won't get me far in Haven, but at the cost? I'll gladly take it. Just trying to understand why this person did that.

I remain neutral on this race issue. I support all and hate none. Btw, you should have hearth teleported you sillyhead. If he only aggroed you after you caps'd him, then you had time. I avoid humans like the plague.

It's part of the game, sadly. Very few people have the patience or tolerance needed to be accepting of the random strangers, and you'll come across trolls and raiders aplenty. Why, infact, I was just murdered today. Simply because I had a backpack. My question is: If he could afford murder, how come he couldn't make his OWN backpack? But I digress. Just pick yourself up, dust off, and try again. Getting attacked? Join a village.
