I'm not entirely sure how you draw the conclusion that I am blaming you, in fact, I wish you weren't even posting here as it has nothing to do with you. I just want to hear from the guy who did it.

Make whatever claims about me you wish, yes, my stance is weak, and no, I bet I won't be missed, hell, no one even knew I existed until just now. It makes no difference.

Once again, thank you for your input. I'm just a bit surprised by the reaction I'm getting.

Really?

You're getting this response because everyone that's played for any amount of time has been in your shoes before, and not everyone comes on the forums to complain about it.

Seriously, who's been playing for more than 6 months and hasn't got raided, assaulted, murdered, or griefed? If there are any people at all that answer 'not me', you're fucking pro-hermit or something.

Don't be surprised, this world is harsh, and the game is an economic simulator doing it's best to try to emulate social patterns and economy. It's not surprising that a game that is somewhat emulating real life will be harsh.

I just learned about this game about 2 weeks ago, well after approximately 5 days of playing straight, barely sleeping and eating once in a while. I got murdered by a bear at 'full change'. Yeah i complained to my village, cussed a bit, and then started playing again. Only to be murdered AGAIN 6 days later by a boar at 'full change'.

Well i learned from my mistakes, now i walk through the forest with trees off and my finger on the hearth button.

So i'm just trying to illustrate that things like this happen to everyone, sometimes through your own stupidity, sometimes just bad luck, but don't rage FFS.

So believe me when i say, everyone has been in your shoes, and you don't get anywhere by complaining on the forums.

Let my thread die then, or don't read it. It isn't for you anyway. I'm not 'raging.' I'm not 'crying.'

I just want an explanation as to 'why me' from the people that did it. I don't want your comfort.

This will be my last post here.

Thanks for your input.

Oh, and I know I 'won't be missed,' so save your spite for someone else.

In what supergrid do you live? Perhaps something can be done about it. I'm sure a peaceful village would gladly take you too.

some people in this game are bad and will take any opportunity they see to kill or steal. if you don't have walls you are an easy target for theft. it's a harsh world, but if you had fun playing up to the point when you got robbed, i'd suggest either joining a more established village or taking this opportunity as a learning experience and getting some walls up asap. you might be able to hire rangers to get some of your stuff back, some rangers don't even ask to be paid.

If you live in front of a cave and were guarded by a roundpole fence then it was me.

Nah, he's getting this reaction because so many people on the message board are jerks.

Hey, Photogasm.

So, let me give you some background. I have a village of about six guys, all personal friends, all people coming from games where killing people is fun, and expected. They also enjoy this game, where killing is both fun, and profitable. I know, this isn't call of duty, or whatever the common response to that is, but it remains that when one has a heavily fortified hearthvault, a large number of combat characters, and a decent supply of pretty much everything, killing people for their delicious LP is a pretty practical thing to do.

One of my idiots went on a thievin' spree of just about every unwalled settlement to the west of us that he could find. I made him move his hearth away from our vault for this reason, but we got tracked before then anyway. It happens. He stole some pretty good stuff, I might add, so I'm not really all that annoyed with him, I simply wish that he'd consulted me before doing so. You'd still probably have been hit, being a small hermit without the backing of any of the larger, more dangerous villages in the area. That's just the way of things.

So, let me give you a little advice. The first is that you should probably not leave threats. I realize your intention, but that could, obviously, turn around on you pretty quickly. The second is to not put your settlement that close to the river. It makes you a prime, and convenient target for thieves. The third is to have your wall up BEFORE you have pretty much anything of value, and to not seal the cornerpost right after putting up the sign for an extension. Seriously. That begged to be griefed.

Truthfully, I wasn't really even MAD (iaintevenmad.jpg) that you left a threat, but leaving the scent made it pretty much irresistible for me. I had to retaliate, and I was a little bit bored. If you are still intent on playing, realize that usually we ONLY kill people who are legitimate threats, or those that make illegitimate ones.

Edit: And all of their friends. But only that one time. Was really kind of a dick move. I'd still do it again.

I hope this satisfies your curiosity.
