Thanks for reminding me why I don't want to start a village or get involved with one: More people you have the bigger risk someone does something stupid and all of your villagers get slaughtered. This is one of many cases where revenge involves murder sprees as opposed to targeted attacks.

Yup, just takes 1 guy to not mention he murdered some guy in some other guys village.... and next thing you know, some raider is tunneling your mine hole and about to kill you.. oh wait.. I think the problem here is people still have unprotected mine holes?

how can you protect it except walling it in and claim it?

Can't even do that with 100% certainty. If they're dedicated/close enough they can tunnel into your mine from their own. I suppose you could build brick walls inside each level of the mine as well if you were worried about that.

Walling it and claiming it is exactly what you should do if it you have a mine hole inside your village. Countless posts about tunneling have been made, and yet 2 of the 3 villages I raided were tunneled. All you would have to do is build a wall around your mine, on the top or bottom, and claim it. Now I need a ram and vandalism...
