So, let me give you some background. I have a village of about six guys, all personal friends, all people coming from games where killing people is fun, and expected. They also enjoy this game, where killing is both fun, and profitable. I know, this isn't call of duty, or whatever the common response to that is, but it remains that when one has a heavily fortified hearthvault, a large number of combat characters, and a decent supply of pretty much everything, killing people for their delicious LP is a pretty practical thing to do.

One of my idiots went on a thievin' spree of just about every unwalled settlement to the west of us that he could find. I made him move his hearth away from our vault for this reason, but we got tracked before then anyway. It happens. He stole some pretty good stuff, I might add, so I'm not really all that annoyed with him, I simply wish that he'd consulted me before doing so. You'd still probably have been hit, being a small hermit without the backing of any of the larger, more dangerous villages in the area. That's just the way of things.

So, let me give you a little advice. The first is that you should probably not leave threats. I realize your intention, but that could, obviously, turn around on you pretty quickly. The second is to not put your settlement that close to the river. It makes you a prime, and convenient target for thieves. The third is to have your wall up BEFORE you have pretty much anything of value, and to not seal the cornerpost right after putting up the sign for an extension. Seriously. That begged to be griefed.

Truthfully, I wasn't really even MAD (iaintevenmad.jpg) that you left a threat, but leaving the scent made it pretty much irresistible for me. I had to retaliate, and I was a little bit bored. If you are still intent on playing, realize that usually we ONLY kill people who are legitimate threats, or those that make illegitimate ones.

I hope this satisfies your curiosity.

You didn't kill her though. You killed some random guy and then raided all his friends.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but to be all high and mighty like "WE ONLY KILLED YOU BECAUSE OF THE THREAT" when she's not even dead is kind of stupid.

Edit: And all of their friends. But only that one time. Was really kind of a dick move. I'd still do it again.

Cool story bro, enjoy being murdered over people who "begged to be griefed".

Perhaps you should read my post again, and in its entirety. While I had believed her to be among the people we killed, when I made my previous thread about midgard, I make no such assertions now. I know where her village is, now that she describes her situation, and it's pretty much within a stone's throw of midgard (Something like 30 squares). I was simply giving her what she asked for- a rather detailed reason for our aggression. Towards her, or anyone else.

It could happen. It probably won't, but I won't flip out, or post a thread on the forum about how dismal my existence has become over the loss of loads of LP. I'll just make a new dude, and be up and rolling again in a day or so.

Yes, it does satisfy my curiosity, thank you for responding.

A few notes:

Can you explain to me how a new-ish person to the game is able to build a wall BEFORE building up the means to actually build the wall?

Second, I did not 'seal' my cornerstone, presumably one of your guys did. It was the first cornerstone I'd ever built, after I'd finally gained the means to build it in the first place. It took nearly all of my resources. I only learned about sealing cornerstones today, from another person I explained the situation to. I had just built it the night your guys raided me. I logged on the next day to find that all my stuff was ransacked and my post was still drying. I logged back on later in the day and found that I could not extend my cornerstone at all.

If LP is that important to you, then please feel free to send me a PM with a date and time and you can kill my character as well. I won't even put up a fight.

It's too bad about all those people you killed by mistake.

Take care.

If you told people your location, maybe someone would be able to help.

While I appreciate the sentiment, no one else needs to die over this, thank you though. :) I just wanted an explanation, I thought I had done something wrong to warrant the theft and vandalism.

Now you're just making me feel bad. Quit it. If you message me via PM, we can work something out. I'll GIVE you the materials for a wall. Just follow the rest of my advice, really, it's good stuff.

But your post clearly says that you ONLY kill people who pose a threat to you, but the people you ended up killing were in fact not a threat at all.
