Someone please point that out - because I never said that, anywhere. You choose to play the game however you like. But don't come into a thread and try to inform me that this game revolves around PvP. That's just, like, your opinion, man. Some of us would disagree, and no, it's not about "eternal farming."

Don't be an idiot.

There's more to this game than farming AND PvP.

The entire game revolves around civilization building, but thats not really possible without the ability to force others to submit to your will. Take the PvP out of the game and all you have is a glorified version of farmvill.

Don't get me wrong, this game is way better than farmvill, and not just because of the PvP. But without the PvP aspect of it, the game wouldn't have any internal meaning. And PvP includes stealing from players.

Xyson might make the mistake of creating too many player created safe zones and ruining what the game should be.

The entire game is about doing whatever you want. You really can't do it "wrong".

I didn't say anything about the PvP. Why do people keep inferring that I dislike it or even oppose it's presence?

A PvP game implies competition. I see no competition in beating down people disproportionately to whatever crime you want to pretend was committed. I see douchebaggery.

It's not a matter of enforcing their will on others (well, it is, but you know what I mean - in the sense of power blocs as opposed to an ego trip), it's a matter of, "my gameplay experience is more important than yours." You can't even try to tell me this isn't the case. And if you can't see the problem with that line of thought, then I feel bad for you, son.

I got 99 problems but Aspergers ain't one.

Great, we were all warned by the game's description that permadeath is a part of the game. If anything, to the minds of rational folk, this should only make killing other players a last resort; afterall, does it make sense for a deer hunter to kill all the deer? No. Because this removes his source of enjoyment/food/sport.

EDIT: And in the end, to the question of PvP, I only commented that it is not a required element to enjoy the gameplay experience. So folks should stop yelling, "but PvP!"

you can't opt-out of PvP, so it's best to accept that and take some defensive measures so that random dickheads don't come and one-shot you. no, it's not required that you kill people to enjoy the game, but for many people it is required that they not die to enjoy the game. for reference see the many i got killed ragequit threads.

There is competition: resources. There are a finite amount of them, and you may be on some nice ones. To be fair, there are douchebags that go out of their ways to do so, however there is a second reason to shiv a player: learning points. Killing players gives tasty lps that give you more power for devouring your enemies. This is a character economy, however it is a driving cyclical force. The stronger you are, the more lps one gets for shanking you.

Not all players kill other players for 'sport'. I've killed one thief, and that is because he took a crateful of leathers and would not give them back when I asked nicely. Other than that I have enjoyed my vineyard, hunting, and farm animals greatly. The forums are not very representative of all the players because people do not often make threads to the effect of, "I'm having a super awesome time farming and raising sheep." If the forum was representative, entire supergrids would be in bloody constant warfare where everyone's neighbor was someone to be stabbed for being a thief.

PvP is part of the game that is interval in providing a more human experience. Humans are violent things.

There was once a bear with crimson hair
He moved faster than Kail could see:
And took his fingers three.
