Discovered Massacured Village, Any Idea what Happened?

Using the http://algeralith.info/HavenMap2/ You can find the village in question at -104, -58

I happened to come across this place by pure exploring chance, and found skeletons everywhere, walls deteriorating, crops had gone outa' control and there is narry a soul in sight.
I was wondering if any of you might have a clue as to what could have wiped out this rather large town?

You're missing the point here. I'm trying to find out what happened to it, not argue the validity of whether it can be considered a village or not.

It's also possible that it was abandoned after simply quitting and those skeleton are victims of animals pooled but also a possible victims of a raider as well though it depends on how the skeltons are arranged (assuming they aren't moved).

The problem is that it's a dumb question to begin with. Abandoned settlements are a dime a dozen and this random place apparently had nothing unique about it or the way it was destroyed (it wasn't even a village so he couldn't give a name to help jog someone's memory).

There are a couple dozen ways the settlement could have died off, none of which are particularly interesting or merit an entire thread.
