Metal Prices?

Postby Gerhard » Mon Feb 07, 2011 4:38 am

This a newbie question about trading. I have a decent farm but I'm not yet able to mine my own metal yet.

Just how rare and valuable is bronze/iron/steel/gold etc?

How much would I need to pay in non-metal goods to get a single bar of metal?

Tin/copper/iron isn't very rare, it can all be found in the first subterranean layer. Grab some rustroot and start prospecting, or find a cave and test the walls until you find something. Either way, it's nowhere near as hard as it was to find in W3 and anyone with a village idol and a cave probably has access to some kind of metal. Steel is still time consuming and a pain in the ass to get higher quality, but as long as someone has iron...

We haven't done much metal trading yet because there are very few people who actually want metal. Everyone we meet wants the same stuff we want- wax, hardened leather, wool, linen etc along with the standard high qual clay/water/soil. This makes it a bit difficult to price. Couple of low-q bars for a blob of wax? I have no idea.

Silver seems to be subterranean layer 2 and onwards, the troll layers. I guess gold would be 3+?
