Forest to grassland to moor to heath to ...?

Postby Fichina » Tue Feb 22, 2011 4:49 pm

I just noticed recently that plowed moor has a chance to degenerate to heath (which is, of course, cool looking.)

Is there a chance of heath going to something else? I just want to be sure I don't accidentally have it go to thicket or worse some kinda swamp

heath doesn't change to anything unless you plant grass or trees on it.

Plowed land has a chance to degrade to heath regardless of what was plowed. Heath will not degrade into Thicket, don't worry =)

Alright then. I saw this on someone elses land who stradled grassland/forest and moorland, I happened to see the terrain update and a square of heath popped up in his moor . I also saw the moor encroach a bit into the grasslands, another thing I didn't know could happen.

So any clearcut area with even one tile of moorland will eventually be all moorland.

Does anyone know if heath spreads over moorland similarly? If it does a late world map is gonna look really purple!

Grassland is what appears if there is a clear cut forest area from what I understand. Heath does not expand and cannot be created, I don't think. Moor only appears if you allow a plowed area to degrade and even then only sometimes. You can always plant grass though.

I assure you I saw moor expanding into grasslands. You can see the jagged random decayed borders at grassland/moor borders. I could get a picture if you need to see it. Also I've seen moors created from plowed grasslands. I've got one in my field.

Newish stuff maybe?

a plowed grassland tile has a chance to degrade to moor. a plowed moor tile has a chance to degrade to heath. grass tiles adjacent to moor have a chance to degrade to moor, and grass or moor tiles adjacent to heath have a chance to degrade to heath. this was implemented back when loftar tried tree spawning. he ended up turning off tree spawning but left the grassland thing in.

Ah, my mistake. I seem to be full of bad information today.

Now I want to plow a big pointless field in the middle of my local moorland to rush the coming heathpocolypes
