Fishing and 'hotspot regeneration'

Postby Argus » Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:06 am

Do fishing 'hotspots' (where the fish are jumping) move, or simple deplete and regenerate randomly?

I like fishing, but it seems like they deplete a little too quickly. God, I'd rather have to replace my line/lure/hook more often.

Oh, and if a fellow fisherman I met on the river is reading this: I didn't catch any fish, but I did bag a boar from my rowboat. Fishing for bacon ftw.

They have quality nodes like any other resource. You need to find a node that's higher than q10, just like clay, to get very many fish. They do deplete quickly but they also regenerate quickly. They are not active at all times, they turn stop during certain times of day, I believe.

Fishing nodes, due to the advent of intelligence being an amazing stat with the curio system, have been made to deplete really quickly. In the same note, they regenerate more quickly as well.

But fishing nodes are much slower to regenerate than any other type still. They take ~24 hours to reappear. If you have even a slightly active population in the area everything will be fished out constantly. Recently a wave of griefing/raiding whipped through the area and fishing nodes I'd never seen before started popping up everywhere.

As people start getting more settled and find other sources of int, or get enough for the moment, the pressure on the fishing nodes should diminish.
