Extra Bones and Crafted Curios

Postby Vengent » Sat Apr 07, 2012 4:56 pm

Hey folks, looking for more advice on the hermit lifestyle.

Now that the chicken farm is pretty well on its way, I have an abundance of extra bones. Is it worth churning these into primitive dolls for the LP?

Currently I'm mostly using Straw Dolls, Feather Dusters, Poppy flowers, wishbones and the occasional shewbread for LP.

(I have a forager alt, but tend to spend more time behind the walls.)

Are there any other good farmable* curios pre metal?

(*not necessarily actual farms, just repeatable non random)

Bonus Beeswax Question - Should I be destroying and rebuilding bee hives as my straw improves? My carrots are around 65-70 now, but wax is still around 9-13. (and sheesh that takes forever to spawn)

I put in seers bones before I log out for the night. You need good survival I think ti give them the highest q based on the q of the bones.

it's this issue of people mistaking convenience for laziness or "casual" gameplay, . . . there is no reason why not to have sacks . . .

Sand castle and seer's bones both are better use for bones.

You can also "farm" seer's tealeaves, emerald dragonflies, prisms, toy chariots, bark boats (most of those require to go out ;))

nah, you can keep the same beehives, the quality of materials for hives doesn't matter, just be sure to have a lot of farm tiles around them and harvest/replant them frequently

Thanks, I've read dozens of threads on this, and there's a LOT of conflicting information.

Why is my wax so low quality? Is it true I need to not harvest immediately?

Harvest immediately for best results. Just plant often in a full radius and harvest constantly to work on your wax quality, I believe.

It's psyche, not survival, that caps seers bones and tealeaves.

Update on this, (warning, anecdotal data point ahead).

Someone ingame said that the beehive "averaged" across all crops it had pollinated. Ie week 1, you've got 100 crops that were ql10, but then week 2 you've got 100 crops that were ql50.

That somehow those original 100 crops of ql10 were still involved in the beeswax/honey formula, and bringing down the average. I tried destroying the old hive, and building a new one in exact spot, with the same crops (only one harvest difference, so maybe a ql diference of 5 tops) the wax went from 9-12 to 33-31.

I know that one data point does not equal a fact, just some extra thoughts on the topic.
