Setting up a cheese factory (Mainly for Midnight blue)

Postby ArtemisGray » Tue Jun 05, 2012 1:08 am

Hello.

I seek to build a cheese factory underground for the sole purpose of making MBC.

I have a few questions regarding cheese, and also a few somewhat related questions I might as well throw into this thread.

If you can only answer a few, that is still most appreciated.

1. Does a mined out tile count as a "Mine" for producing Jorbonzola?
2. If the answer to the above is yes, with a house that has a cellar underground, I have all the areas needed to produce MBC?
3. Do cupboards placed on a mined out tile explode when a decay tick happens? like cupboards placed outside aboveground?
4. Do any stats affect the quality of cheese? or is the quality dependent on the milk/curd/rennet/trays/tubs used?
5. Does the quality of the jar used to make rennet matter?

Here is a little layout I made, does it look alright ? for more cellar space should I make mansions or timber houses? should the minehole be placed in a different location?

Some questions related to animals

1. Can I use signposts to fence my animals in? if I leash an animal with it pathfind between the posts if I make a gap? or will it get stuck like on roundpole gates?
2. Is it OK to pave the area my animals are in? I recall reading somewhere that when they eat grass it lowers their quality. ( Want it to look tidy too  )
3. I want more milk producing cows, if I put the ones stuck in the gates with a bull, will they become pregnant again?

Forgive the long post, and thank you in advance for any advice.

Regards,

Arty

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. No, there are no decay ticks underground.
4. sqrt(Cooking*PER) softcaps rennet, otherwise, no.
5. No.
6. Yes, gates just fuck with pathfinding, it's not just roundpoles.
7. Yes, grass is treated as Q10 fodder and is eaten when there is no other fodder in eating range.
8. No.

Not related to the question posted but related to the topic, it probably would help to change the cheese rack layout to this allowing you to compress more racks with the same amount of space.

No? Hm, from what's going on in my stables it looks like they can get pregnant however many times you let them.

Also offering (Darki's methinks) even shorter cheeseracks:

I believe that the center of the cow needs to be outside of the gate for the bull to be able to target.

Oh I see, that's what the question was after. I just assumed he'd take them out of the gates to put them with a bull. Nevermind, then.
