How do i drop something i am carrying?

so how do i drop soemthing i am carrying, because i carried something, but then a huge lag spike came--->couldnt move anymore
so i quit
but i cant restart that character anymore, probably because i was carrying something when i quit.
So how do i drop?

With your inventory open, hold the Ctrl key and left click on whatever you would like to drop.

no i mean somethign that you are actually lifting off the ground, sorry if the question was not clear.

You right-click on the ground where you want to put it, but there has to be room for it.
But because you were still holding something when you logged out,
that something was dropped on the ground and makes you unable to log in on that spot,
so you'll have to log in at your hearthfire or whatever other choices you may have.
