Nature/Industrial Influences

Postby Krakatoah » Mon Jul 20, 2009 11:45 am

As far as i know, the nature/industrial belief effects your productivity in those areas depending on how much you add to the scale, like Nature-aligned hearthlings have better luck overall with unraveling Silk Cocoons, whilst Industrial hearthlings have a field day at the forge as they produce out wrought iron after wrought iron from blooms...

However, i want to know EXACTLY what parts the belief slider influences, like for example, will a Nature hearthling, provided he has the steel crucible, with Wrought irons, Charcoals, time and security so some thieving hands wont pinch the iron in the process....be able to make steel bars at the same rate as a more industrialised hearthling?

Thank you in advance.

Alright, the slider affects:

Getting cast iron from ore: Full Nature - 5%, Full Industry - 20%
The efficiency of harvesting crops.
Chance of getting wrought iron from bloom: Full Nature - 0%, Full Industry - 66%
Silk filaments when unraveling cocoons: Full nature - 2 per cocoon, Full industry - 0 per cocoon.

Steel is always 100%, provided the crucible doesn't go out.

I knew I was forgetting something...

Germinating sprouts, while I do not know of the exact percentages, I'm pretty sure it's the nature equivalent of getting wrought iron.
Full nature: 66% Full industry: 0%

I wonder if germinating wheat is also effected by nature.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

It isnt affected, i can fill a table with wheat seeds and come back after a period of time to see all 16 of the seeds germinated and ready for some kiln blasting.

Wrong. When I played my full industry character, he usually got at least one sprout out of a batch of 12. And I haven't seen one fail on my nature character for quite a while. So... I'd guess it's more like full nature is 100% or 99.9% and full industry is somewhere around 10%.

I can second that, I've never got a fail with my nature character. Also, nature only takes 4 ingame hours, while industry take 12 ingame hours I believe.

Does this make wheat germinate faster?
