How do I get good LP?

Postby noogie_3 » Sat Oct 16, 2010 3:48 am

Hey guys, I've wondered for quite some time now, how do I get good LP like in the Screen Photos on Haven & Hearth.

Now, before you go ahead posting away, here are my statistics and skills..

Statistics:
Unarmed Combat: 5
Melee Combat: 1
Marksmanship: 1
Exploration: 1
Stealth: 1
Sewing: 1
Smithing: 1
Carpentry: 1
Cooking: 1
Farming: 1
Survival: 1

Skills:
Brawling
Carpentry
Foraging
Hunting
Lumberjacking
Militia Training
Oral Tradition
Plant Lore
Primitive Tools
Stone Working
Will To Power
Unarmed Combat
Wilderness Survival

Now, as you can see, I am a HUGE noob. But please don't remind me by endlessly posting calling me a noob.

Also, don't just say "Cut down some trees". Becuase I find cutting down trees and removing there stumps, and cutting up the logs Deeply boring and very depressing.

Cheers

first of all, don't put anything else into unarmed combat right now. learn boatbuilding. put some lp into exploration, survival, and marksmanship. get them all to 10. explore your area for taproots and nettles and make a sling out of them. boat around and look for a grassland with a stone on the riverbank that you can chip from your boat. shoot cows and sheep from your boat.

also make sure you adjust your belief sliders to peaceful (each time you move a slider it also moves the change slider). at full peace/change you'll get 360% LP gain.

Uh, yeah, I can find water, anywhere..
I know how to make grass, and aparently animals will still spawn on it, so I can make a big patch of grass with a fence around it. Then I could shoot animals in there?

i can't stress this enough: explore your area thoroughly. you might be at the edge of one of the supergrids, so you'll need to go in a non-cardinal direction to find water.

thanks, also, something that might be some "vital" information you might need.
I live, like, 500 metres away from a small village called 'lost hills'. the place is obviously deserted, but it has a claim around it, and from one of the stone walls, I can see it has an iron mine. should I get trespassing, theiving, vandalism, and try to get in?

Brick walls and stone mansions require iron/steel don't they?

Also, I found another town called 'Selisia'

brick walls do, yea, but that doesn't necessarily mean that mine is iron. is it a personal claim or village claim on it?

there's a good chance the mine isn't abandoned. and you are a long way from being able to get thru a brickwall anyways. in your place i wouldn't fuck with the mine any further as a personal claim can be linked to a notification service which alerts someone when a tresspass takes place. i always go by the rule of thumb that any claimed land that looks important (like a mine or hearth vault) is linked to a notify. what this means is (theoretically) as soon as you trespass onto the land, a dude armed to the teeth could pop out at you, and depending on his mood (and if you speak the same language even), you could wind up either as a trade partner or a skeleton decorating his lawn.

another good way to get lp is through farming and making baked goods. but you will need more exploration in order to find windsown seeds (it looks like a white leaf sticking out of the ground) to dry into crops. farming isn't for everyone but if you can handle the tedium of it, you can stand to get a lot of lp this way without having to leave your walls and get chased by animals.
