Question regarding palisade gates

Postby BlitzKrieger » Sun Oct 24, 2010 2:47 am

So I have begun construction of my palisade for me and my friends place, but I'm a tad confused about gates. If I was intending to build my wall in a rectangular shape, would it be possible for me to build both ways from the initial cornerpost until I got to exactly where I wanted to build my gate and build two cornerposts and my gate in between both. Would that work? If that does not work how could I build my gate where I wanted and escape the second initial cornerpost?

Assuming you are only building one gate and your wall is continuous you should only need one initial and it doesn't matter which corner you build it at.

Incidentally, if you build more, and also assuming otherwise continuity, each additional gate should only cost one extra initial and one extra secondary.

What if I would like it more centered and build two corner posts that have the space for one in the middle?

If it is a wall that is palisade only, by which I mean it is in an open area with no ridge included in it, you need one initial cornerpost for every gate you want. If you want one gate, you can make the gate in the corner or:

You could build two initial corner posts and build the gate right away, but that's a waste of materials. The second one is better if you have someone helping you.

Thanks for that. I can't do the second one because I have already begun construction. But now I know that it must go in the corner. Also do you need Yeomanry to repair palisades? I have it but my friend does not.

You don't need any skill to repair palisades; you just need wooden blocks and access to the land the palisades are on.

Nope. I tried repairing a palisade on a new character the other day, you do need yeomanry.

Maybe you need Carpentry?

No, only yeomanry, not Carpentry.
