Good hunting strategy?

So yeah, I use a sword and shield to hunt. My favorite game is mostly boars since I need the STR, I normally just use dash and sidestep the boar when it gets combat advantage, I do this until I get 26 IP which is enough to bring the boar's defense down and let me use valorous strike. This method takes long, but it makes sure I take no damage whatsoever and the boar dies.

I could really use a faster method though, but also a method that keeps me alive long.

Get decent leather armor or bad metal armor and use a sling. Having high UA (or MA if you're using a shield) also helps. Slings will always be faster for hunting unless you have ridiculously high attack skills and/or equipment.

Yeah, once your melee attack gets to about 200 or so you can hunt without taking any damage with a sling. Even lvl 10 bears can't break through it on one hit. If your marksman is high enough you'll kill them before they get the second hit in.

Guess you stuck then. Get better stats then it will be faster. When you do more damage it will take less time to kill shit.

Yeah, there's not much you can do with strategies. Get a better melee weapon and skills or invest in marksmanship.

Already have a Q57 Soldier's Sword, I think that's the best I can get.

Use Invocation of Skuld instead of sidestep.
IoS take 3 IP but, to use it you need 7+3 IP.
Doesn't take the 7 away from you.

It should make your fights a little faster since it costs less than sidestep.

28 melee and you're taking down boars?

I can see why it takes so long to kill one, but good nonetheless

I'd suggest you get your melee to 50 atleast. You'd be able to one-shot boars by then probably, assuming you do have a soldier's sword.

Heck, I was killing Lvl 10 Boars and Deers by 20 Melee.

I always made sure I one-shotted them though.
