Is there a cap for crop/chicken quality?

Postby Shask » Sat Jan 08, 2011 2:19 am

Basically crop quality = chicken quality, right?

In the whole game - what's the highest quality crops? And chickens/eggs? (as they're the easiest to get quality up, correct me if I'm wrong)

Is there a cap? Or are there ridiculous quality things in this game e.g. carrots Ql 3000?

crops are softcapped by people's farming skill and also limited by time (-5/+5 q max per generation). chickens are softcapped by crop (fodder) q and also limited by time (-5/+5 q max per generation). the best chicken is probably somewhere in the mid to high 100s, afaik nobody has broken 200q on any animal so far, but they are getting close. there are certainly some high q crops around, especially carrots and beets, since they have the shortest grow time, but i don't think anyone has crops over 1000. 500, possibly, but that is a pretty hefty time investment.

Hm, well e.g. carrots you can harvest once a day easily. So that's +5 Ql a day. This world has been running for approximately 320 days, so if a highly dedicated player on full nature harvested and replanted a large amount of carrots every day they could easily get to 1500+ QL. The maximum would be 1610 QL (if 320 days is spot on), but you have to take into account that not every plant would get +5 every time. However with a large enough harvest (e.g. 200+ carrots) and full nature (making it 600 carrots) there would be lots of +5s every time. So why don't we see such high QL crops?

And if you had Ql 1500 carrots then Ql 1500 chickens would naturally follow, as fodder is the only limitation to chickens.

Carrots grow every 9 hours. Less if you go for seeds.

also
crops are softcapped by people's farming skill

Nobody asked you about carrot theory either.

What? All you're doing is coming into my thread, and posting irrelevant stuff that nobody has asked.

you know how much fuckin LP 1500 farming would be? and the fodder is a softcap, you still have to breed the chickens to raise the q, they don't get magically averaged up to fodder q
