Hunting Technique

Postby oddoddessey » Wed Jan 19, 2011 1:48 am

Thoru yelled at me to make my own topic. So I did. Because he's a jerk.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this has already been discussed but I'm kinda at a loss.

What technique should I be using to hunt? Obviously sign boards don't work anymore. I don't know about gate traps but I don't really have the constitution to pull that off anyway.

So far, people I've met have told me to pull my target animal to the coast, hop in a boat, shoot it till it runs then chase it down and punch it to death. So what should my Unarmed combat be at? Is there a much easier way to go about it?

Yes the best way is to shoot him down from the boat till he runs. Once he runs then just punch him and it will hurt him no matter what if hes running, then punch him again and he should die.

Alright, cool.

I assume this works for all animals?

Where does unarmed need to be at? I'm very interested in this as well.
No, I am not TLO from SC2. I just happen to be a petite girl in real life and thought I was clever. Apparently, so did TLO.

Another question.

In trying to run down animals, namely foxes. I know the player can outrun boars on forest terrain. But how do I catch up to the stupid thing to punch it? Maybe I'm missing something.

Well according to a change on the wikia, "From now on it can destroy signs (not fences etc) and can kill you after KO (like boars and bears)". So unless I am misunderstanding: you can still round pole fence them in. Though the wikia has had misinformation put in it before so use it at your own risk.

Well if your trying to catch a fox it will be really hard unless he runs back around and then you might be able to punch him.

Foxes are essentially useless since they put the level cap on them and nerfed their LP. They even seem to be less common than boars and as stated, are a complete bitch to run down. Unless you can one shot them, I can't see why anybody would waste their time hunting them.

I only fight foxes near the water. They are passive until you attack them, so I wait for them to go up to the water and then trap them with signs. When they try to run, they don't break down signs so they can't go anywhere.

I so special :D

Boat Hunting, chase down the animal when it runs away, shallow water, kill it. It works!
