New character in coniferous forest = no food

Seriously, no fishing spots, i found a grand total of one rabbit, and no matter what direction i move i can't find a broadleaf forest.

Should i just kill my guy off? Because he's down to two starter loaves and i havent even found any seeds... even if i had the time to farm a field now... which i don't... any seeds i find won't do much help anymore.

Am I missing something, here?

While blueberries don't give ideal FEPs, they can be eaten. Collecting blueberries, taproots, chantrelles, and raiding ant nests are good ways to keep your food stocks up.

Your hunger bar also only goes down when you need to recover stamina or health. If you stick to walking, you'll last a lot longer.

Ants are the way to go. Raid hill, walk away a bit and then go back before the ants get you. Optimal nutrition ensured.

if you're not far from water, raid hill, walk into the river shallows (DO NOT SWIM) and you'll see the ants 'bouncing' off the shallow water edge, you can now raid the ant hill without being attacked. Its smart to make sure none of them are between you and the water though. As new hearthling they can still hurt you

But you're a god! You can make water into wine for the travel sickness, and bread out of like... skin flakes!
