Melee level to take on the average bear?

I had an encounter with a level 7 bear today, clearly I had my ass handed to me.
So now I'm just wondering, what melee level would I need to take a low leveled one down?

Maybe a recommendation on stats as well?

I attempted again today, with 95 I was able to touch the bear once, and then get thrown through a Fir.

wich lvl bear and wich str u had ?

That one was a level 7 bear and I had 67 Str.
Last night I managed to kill a level 5 bear without too much trouble, I'm going to guess that you need about double the combat level of the bear to be able to have a fair chance at it. But you'll probably still need good armor, and pretty high const/str.

i will hunt for the xp and to say "i killed a bear" or so^^
hide or meat i dont need.
