Claims and Rafts

Postby Jackwolf » Sun Feb 13, 2011 12:48 am

My friend recently died after we set up his claim over our store house. Now I can access it still, but none of his new characters can even after 'inheriting' from their ancestors. Anyone know whats going on?

Also, how many things can a raft hold? Currently we have a wagon, and were wondering if we should make another wagon which we can move with the raft. Can it only hold one, two, three, seven, etc?

In your friends character creation room, he did not click on the runestones and inherit from his ancestors. This is made obvious by the fact that you still can access it and he doesn't have full control over them. If he Has inherited them and isn't receiving control or ownership of his property, this is an indication of a bug and should be listed in the Bugs section. When you inherit your old characters property, the old kinlist is removed so people who used to have access no longer do, which leads me to believe that he just failed to inherit. Have him remake his character and inherit properly this time.

Rafts can carry 1 object. This means you can put the wagon on the raft and that's it, the raft is full.

But he did inherit, or at least we both are pretty sure.

He came out of creation with something around 5000 LP, aftering "Inheriting" both of his built up old characters.

Then it's a bug and should be reported to the Bugs section for examining by jLo.

Are you sure he set up the claim, and you didn't? I'm pretty sure that it's whoever finishes the claim that gets it, not who starts it. (Granted I figure this is a stretch since you would have had to set up permissions for him, but just throwing it out there.)

You can only have one ancestor per character.

Hrm... I made -sure- he finished it, and is it possible that he did "inherit" on both of his ancestors, but the second one wasn't the one who had the claim? That seems plausible.

And thanks everyone for the raft things, problem solved on that :D

New questions if people want to help; How often are caves likely to be found? There's one nearby but no Ore in it (That we can find) and want to mvoe somewhere where there is one.

And how hard is it to get ore without a cave... Or with a cave?

Caves are everywhere, and they're connected to the first sublevel of the world. A minehole from the main world-level connects to the same level as caves. Getting ore from a node with ore depends upon your position on the nature/industry slider: full nature is 4%, full industry is 20%. The prospecting skill combined with use of rustroot extract will help you find loaded nodes. However, last I checked the extract is bugged, so it's a little problematic.

My thoughts on the claim issue (although I might have not understood properly): You must have right clicked your friend's claim after he died. If you click a claim with no owner then it becomes yours unless you already have a claim afaik.

As for caves/ores: The easiest way is to find rustroot and prospect until you find ore. Then build a mine hole. I'd advice you settle close to the mine (or indiside it).
