Invisible Walls; Underground?!

Postby Jackwolf » Mon Feb 21, 2011 9:15 am

So as everyone (or most experienced players) knows an invisible wall bars all movement at certain points of the game. I've also stumbled upon the sad realization that this also effects Layer 2, IE Underground. This doesn't seem right to me, really. Is it a bug, intentional, or what?

if you can't go there on the surface, why would you think you could go there underground?

Well, it wasn't my fault that this cave chose this path... >_> and I figured since there's no way (afaik) to tunnel to the surface from inside a mine and therefore the invisible wall wasn't passable I figured it'd be okay underground. As digging won't go very far underground in most cases (feel free to prove me wrong though, curious to see).

Not sure what you mean by digging won't go very far. You can safely dig out the entire underground layer and it's the same size as the surface world. Each layer is the same size as the surface.

But who would really have the patience to do such? As amazingly awesome and interesting it sounds I don't see it really happening anytime soon-ish.

Regardless, I'm more or less upset that the only unclaimed cave out here I could find ended up being because it's major tunnel runs off the end of the world.

Dig mine holes then? I'm not sure how you're having trouble finding caves, unclaimed caves are everywhere short of the most densely populated areas.

Exactly what we thought when we moved wayyy the way out here. Cliffs are amazingly devoid of caves out this way, for some reason. And I realize the mine hole thing, which we plan to do when we can, but I guess what I'm more or less saying is..

I will never truly know what lies at the end of this tunnel, will i? >:

Probably gold and lots of it. The map may expand like it did last world, which will make it useful to you.

Wouldn't it be awesome if when significantly dug out, all of the layers above it would crash down on top of it?
