Serious W5 question (not whining)

Postby Krugz » Sun Mar 13, 2011 4:04 am

Hey! So I haven't seen anyone else ask this yet, so I'd like to ask:

If you stock up your LP curiosity stuff to the point of not being able to gain any more than you already have; what incentive is there to keep playing on that character? *edit:* Per day/hour/whatever, as in "I've got no more room for curiosity, and they are going to take X amount of time to finish.. *log off*"

Similar vein of thought:
If you are always getting full on how much LP you can gain for a while, what's to stop people from botting up multiple characters at once and building a huge army rather than the previous system where people would bot up 1 character to godly stats?

What has been asked, can not be unasked.

My guess is the new system will be based on resources and getting better equipment instead of the mindless grind we had before.

From what I understand it's only LP that has been changed and the Stats system (FEPS) remains intact.

OK let me break it down so you'll understand what I mean..

Lets say you're a hunter, and you decide "everyone in the village needs a bear cape!" and you go and get all the skins via hunting, you build your curiosity all the way up. Sound good so far? Now you make the bear capes for everyone, lets say your skill is X value. You're currently just a hunter, no other real ability... what do you do now? If you hunt, you could get more bears or whatever; but your LP is still unattained, you can't raise your skill value (X) to any higher value.. so all you can do is churn out more useless junk with no benefit.

See what I'm getting at now? Any time where you used to be able to go "oh, I can't do anything useful right now, I'll grind out more LP till I can do make a better _____ or till I can do ________" has now become "well.. I can't get any more LP, I can't make any more useful items.. cya in a few hours when the curiosity circles around!"

Also, another thought:
Botters still have an advantage, just like in the last world when you had to leave a palisade drying for 12 hours, and you almost never could get back exactly in time; you will likely do this for curiosity too, whereas bots might be able to avoid this and go non-stop.

Ya I guess grinding Int will be the new botting thing? Farm LP curiosities out to max -> grind Int while waiting -> repeat?

Good question OP, I suspect we shall find out. :)

When you do "daily activities" you have a chance on finding a curiosity - it prevents the grind/botting "benefit" by allowing only a limited amount of these curiosities to be equipped ( you'll always have more curiosities than you could use basically ).

And it is most likely true that it'd be a waste of time playing on a full curiosity equipped character, aslong as you've got enough of them stored to resupply.

Though the playing field would sure be evened out - since you can't create "peak" characters in a short amount of time.

I'm assuming there's going to be rare curiosities that are harder to obtain and more valuable. The basic concept of getting richer so you can have access to these better LP givers would make sense to me? We'll really have to see how this system works out.
