Mining in caves

Postby Reimad » Sun Mar 13, 2011 11:54 pm

So yeah, I tried to mine in a cave like I heard was possible in W4.. But I ca't seem to do it, not even an error message.

Was it taken out for W5 or am I doing something wrong? I got a stone axe, mining skill and 10 str.

You need prospecting to mine? I used to mine without prospecting all the time in W3..

I was just planning to hack away wildly at the wall and check if it had ores that way.

You can't mine near a cave entrance.
But with 10 str and a low quality stone axe you won't be able to mine much anyway.

You must be more than 10 tiles from the cave entrance. You must have a Stone Axe or Pickaxe equipped. You need Str and high QL stone axe/pickaxe. It will give you a message near the text window if you do not have enough str (I.E. This rock is slightly to tough, etc)

Wrong in w5. We already mine tin and copper in a cave with 10str and q5 stone axe.

Hardness nodes are highly variable in caves for w4 and w5. It is possible to find hardness nodes that will yield to newbie tools and strength. No guarantee you'll find an easy one though.

We found iron relatively easily, in a kinda soft rock. lvl 13 str required.
