they come out at night

Granted, but I'm inclined to agree with the previous poster in avoiding eating them. Even if you only have a 1% chance of that loss of HHP, it's still not worth the chance. I'd have to be starving to risk it. I mean, by that argument, you could say that eating some raw meat would be good to lower the FEPs needed for the next advance.

Raw meat fills over twice the hunger compared to rat and gives more black feps. A very small chance of losing a couple of HHP is worth saving several blueberries per bar this early in the game.

I'd still rather eat taproots or tree fruits before eating a rat on a stick. If you're walking along foraging, you shouldn't have any issues with hunger. However, if you're burning stamina without having enough food to replace it, you really need to double check your priorities. Food is king. LP second. Shelter 3rd. Everything else is a distant runner up.

He's not talking about eating rats for hunger. He's talking about the FEP DIVERSITY BONUS which you get for eating different types of foods.
