Postby Castille » Tue Mar 22, 2011 8:35 pm

Hello!

I am intrested in killing a boar with unarmed. I have currently 60 unarmed skill but as i have never combated before i am wondering what skills to use?
I read the combat guide, but just wanted som advice first.

What moves should i use and start with etc?

Thanks!

You're going to be swapping maneuvers and moves constantly, so don't get attached to any one combination initially. Start with a Dash! and Oak Stance rather than Charge! and let the boar swing and miss. He'll chew through a good portion of your defense, so switch to Charge! to build up initiative while Oak Stance keeps your defense up. He's going to be faster than you since your agi is terrible but whatever. Get to 6 initiative and switch to Slide! and Bloodlust for a bit. Make sure your defense stays above what he can break through. Slide! and Oak Stance after he swings and misses again, switching to Flex and Bloodlust to get your attack up to pay for the defense. He's going to be gaining combat advantage soon, which means you need to push the offensive now.

Flex and Bloodlust up your attack until you're at full then switch to combat meditation, then back to bloodlust and punch. Get your attack back to full and keep this up until his defense breaks. Once his defense is down, if you have a decent weapon valor strike him. If you don't, then just keep punching through him to gain combat advantage and you'll eventually win. Remember to not let him break your defenses.

more importantly: try something weaker first, like ants or foxes

Try fox first. 60 UA is a bit too low for comfort with boars, minor lag spike and you're dead.

good advicE< BUT A couple things you may have overlooked..

first, when the boar is getting ready to hit (say, around 75% or so of its offense bar), he wants to switch to the dodge maneuver, dodge weighted by UA determines how "long" your defense bar is. taking a hit while on bloodlust, oak stance, or anything else will cause a much larger loss in defense bar.

also, valor strike is weighted on melee combat, not UA. so unless he's trained up in melee as well, valor strike is completely useless other than to reset advantage scales

If you want a quick and clean kill. boost your strength and some mms. Hit the boar most of the times 2 times(, if you trigger the agro first and then hit him he'll run most likely after 1 hit). Anyhow

1: Sling a stone at the boar
2: boar starts to run
3: get out your boat and punch him to death. ur faster then he is.

It's an unarmed kill but not a full combat unarmed :) since the boar will not attack you at any point when you're on land :P

I did not know that. Thank you for explaining that, I shall improve my combat abilities.

Dodge, Oak Stance and Death or Glory have the same weight, it's only Bloodlust that's half weight.
