Under what circumstances when you're chasing a boar after it flees does it turn around and fight you?

That is all. Thanks

Never unless you break agro. Then whether you or it re-initiates combat, it will again attack you.

I was spectating someone shooting a boar from a boat and the boar re-engaged combat after fleeing only ~15 tiles off shore. I don't know if this was an anomaly or if something has changed this world, but animal AI is largely unknown/buggy anyway.

If you look at the top right when you first initiate combat, beside the picture is the double swords image(One sword for you, one sword for your opponent). When the animal runs its sword changes to the olive branch. As long as it is the olive branch, it won't attack you.

I'm living with russians so their may be some miscommunication.

But he swears he was running after it, he didn't break combat, and then boar just started attacking again. And only in world 5.

I believe him, and i've seen that reported once or twice.

Some people say if it touches water, another said if you have it in a corner.

Is it possible this could be a random bug?

Was there a deer nearby that healed the boar? Was anyone else attacking the boar, too? These are both possible reasons for a boar to turn around and attack someone.

I didn't get those details but i feel he would've told me.

So i shouldn't be scared chasing after a boar?

Anyone experience this?

It will turn and re-engage if you did not damage it enough (it had enough time to heal as it ran) or if it was healed by a deer it passed. Deer could be behind tree/rocks and not have seen it.
